BEDFORD, NH -- William "Bill" T. Shutt, 88, of Bedford, NH, died October 14, 2013.
Born in Boston, MA on April 23, 1925, he was the son of Charles and Barbara (McDonough) Shutt. He lived in Chelmsford, MA for several years. He raised his family of ten children in Brookline, NH.
He graduated from Saint Patrick High School, Watertown, MA and attended Boston University.
During World War II, he served in the United States Army Air Corps as a B-17 turret gunner.
Until his retirement in 1985, he was employed 31 years with the New England Telephone and Telegraph Company as a National Yellow Pages sales manager.
Bill was a staunch, lifelong Democrat who was active in local and national political campaigns in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He liked to travel, tend to his gardens, and was an avid reader. Bill was proud of his Irish heritage and will be remembered for his charismatic wit and sense of humor.
He was predeceased by his first wife of thirty-nine years, Gertrude "Trudy" (Hastings) Shutt who died in 1984. He was also predeceased by two sons; Gary M. Shutt and William J. Shutt.
Family members include his wife of twenty-four years, Miriam (Demers) Shutt of Bedford, NH; his sons; Dennis Shutt of Williston, FL, Kevin Shutt of Manchester, NH, Thomas Shutt and Timothy Shutt both of Brookline, NH; his daughters, Karen Hebert of Bedford, NH, Dianne Green of Hooksett, NH, Marybeth Snow of Hollis, NH and Theresa Faucher of Windsor, CT; twenty-four grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; his identical twin brother, Joseph F. Shutt of Gloucester, MA; a sister, Patricia DeBesse of Houston, TX; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
SHUTT -- Calling hours are Thursday from 4 to 8 PM at the Connor-Healy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 537 Union Street, Manchester, NH.
A mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 10 AM in Saint Elizabeth Seton Church, Bedford, NH.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to PVT Charles J. Shutt, Detachment Marine Corps League, 315 Mt. Auburn Street, Watertown, MA 02472.

so sorry to hear of your dad's passing. It's been a long time but I remember him fondly. He was a great dad, a staunch democrat, and a loyal Red Sox fan. My sincerest sympathies to you, Arne, Christopher and the entire Shutt clan.
