Nicholas Anthony Ianni, Jr Died October 19, 2010, born to Nick and Gerry Ianni, January 13, 1955, in Wyandotte, Michigan. Graduated from Dexter High School in 1973, Michigan State University-James Madison College in 1977, and The University of Toledo College of Law in 1981. He was a member of the Michigan Bar. Nick Ianni loved people. He always offered a helping hand to those who needed it. His generosity was only exceeded by the goodness of his heart. His family was all important and nothing mattered more to him. His passion for his beloved Michigan State University Spartans will never be forgotten. Nick was a good, compassionate man and a great Spartan. Visitation will be Sunday, October 24, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Hosmer-Muehlig Funeral Chapel, Dexter. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, October 25, 11 a.m. at the old St. Joseph Catholic Church, on 4th Street in Dexter, with an hour of visitation preceding the Mass from 10-11 a.m. at the church. I am so saddened to hear about Nicky. The Iannis have all been great friends and well remembered as I grew up with then in younger childhood. I always looked up to Nicky as one of the big kids, with a big heart. Our hearts and prayers go out to the Ianni family, and for you Nicky... well, one of the things I will always remember about you is that you were so kind and patient in teaching me to tie my shoes as a little boy. Much love to all of you. I think of you often!

To Nick's family: I was shocked to learn of Nick's untimely death. Your family has always had a special place in the heart of all Dexterites, and Nick will be sorely missed. He was a faithful Dreadnaught and a really nice guy. I am so sorry that he has been taken from you prematurely. My sincere sympathy and love to all of you.

Nick was a man that had so many faces. He would "beam" if you mentioned MSU football and we know what a little kid he was at each and every game. He enjoyed selecting the perfect bottle of wine or flying off to Bermuda. I sometimes wondered why he lived in Michigan because he loved the sun, sand and water so much. But that would be because more than all this, family and friends were the most important things in his life. Nick lived his life working hard so he could sit back one day and just relax, or what he felt was relaxing (laptop and cell phone inches away). Very rarely did you see the stern face, though it seemed that I managed to bring that out at times. He would push you because he believed that you could be more. I saw the changes he make in everyone's life he touched and he made a difference in all of our lives. Most of all you saw the face of the man who was so determined to succeed.

Well Nick, you succeeded in making our lives better. I hope you know what a difference you made. You took in a young man who lost his parents and gave him a new chance for a better life. I could go on with all the wonderful things you did for so many.....

I know that there are no words to help comfort everyone that is grieving but know that we loved Nick and we are here to help in any way we can.

This tiny little box doesn't give a enough space to amount to all the good things that I have to say about Nick. Further more I don't think this page even has enough space. Nick was a person that in my eyes sits besides many of great men. He wasn't just some average guy you would pass on the street and not think twice about. He had a presence that he carried that would light up everyone around him. A presence strong enough that you couldn't help but smile and laugh when you were in his company. Nick gave you hope. Hope that no matter how rough your life could get that it would always get better. Nick may have never had any children of his own but that doesn't mean he didn't have children at all. Myself and my siblings looked upon Nick as not just a close friend but also as a father. I remember just sitting in the living room with Nick and being able to tell him anything and talk about everything with him. That is something I will miss dearly. Nick you will always be with us, for you remain alive in all our hearts. I love you Nick and know you will continue to guide me in the right direction in life just as you always have.

I had the pleasure of knowing nick for many years. He was a very caring and kind man, he was there for me when i needed it and helped me in so many different ways. He was an amazing person, and i will miss having my partner when it comes to MSU and UofM games... He was always there to make me laugh, and helped me out in life with so many things. he always showed me the bright side of things, and i looked up to him very much. He was what i would call my idol. Nick was everything i want to be when i grow up. He went to state and became a lawyer, which is what i have wanted since before i knew him. Nick you will be forever missed and thank you for being there when i needed it!

I am greatly saddened to hear of Nick's passing. I have valued his friendship, his compassion and his generosity since we first met in class at Case Hall at MSU. Nick was the best person to have at your side. He was a tough competitor with an honest forthrightness and I am glad to have called him a friend. My deepest sympathy and condolences to the entire Ianni family.

I only had the pleasure of meeting Nick once but know of the many of the wonderful things he has done for many people. This man will be missed immensely and know that wonderful memories flood the minds of those who really knew him and they cherrish the time they spent with him. My heart goes out to all of those grieving at the loss of such a generous man.

Nick’s passing is a shocking realization of just how precious life is. Nick enjoyed the many blessings in his life and was always willing to share what he had with others. He was never without a good story or two during the tailgate gatherings. We will miss those stories and his enduring support for the Spartans. But most of all, we will miss Nick’s ever present laughter and friendship. Our deepest condolences to the entire Ianni family.

It is hard to put in words how much Nick means to us and how much he will be missed every day. He was a good man with a huge heart and cared so very deeply about everyone, he is and always will be a part of our family and in our hearts. I can only hope he knows this and is finally at peace.
