Warren K. Wells Age 91, born January 16, 1919 in Pittsburg, Georgia, passed away October 19, 2010. He grew up in Detroit, graduating from Cooley High School in 1935. He was a graduate of the US Army Command and General Staff College, the US Army War College, and received his MBA from Michigan State University. A retired Colonel, he was a WWII veteran of the Asiatic-Pacific and European theaters of war. After the war he lived with his family in Marquette where he owned Wells Motor Co., a new car dealership, and three building companies: Kannanen and Wells, Solomon and Wells, and Warren K. Wells, General Builder. He then returned to the military. During his 35 years in the Armed Services he served 28 years in the Michigan National Guard. He retired to Grand Ledge, began Management Synergy, a management consultant business, and devoted his time and commitment to volunteer service in Grand Ledge. His frequent motto was "those who can, should." Every small or large project, building, repairing, cleaning, gardening or advising was embraced as an opportunity to give back to the community he and his wife, Aune, had made home. He was active with the Grand Ledge Planning Commission, the Tax Board of Review, the "Friends of the Island", Ledge Craft Lane, the Opera House, the Senior Center, the Rotary Club and Immanuel Lutheran Church. He firmly believed the library was a resource to find the knowledge needed to complete any challenge. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Wells Miscevich, his son-in-law, Eugene Tata, grandchildren Anthony Tata (Rhonda), Andrew Tata (Beth), Lisa Tata Haffner (Jeffrey), Katherine Tata Wydeven (Joseph), Michael Miscevich (Jennifer) and great grandchildren Zachary, Nicholas, Justin, Madison, Allyson, Bradley, Brandon, Autumn, Hunter, Colton, Dominic, Patrick, and Elizabeth. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Aune Kivela Wells, daughter, Deanne Tata, son-in-law, Miles Miscevich and brothers Robert and Austin, Jr. The family wishes to thank Colonial Park Adult Foster Care and Grandhaven Living Center for their professional skill and loving hearts in the past two years. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 517 S. Clinton, Grand Ledge with The Reverend Richard D. McKenzie, Officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, 5-8 p.m. at Holihan-Atkin Funeral Home, 406 N. Bridge St., Grand Ledge. Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Grand Ledge Area District Library, the Opera House or a charity of choice. Online condolences and guest book entries may be made at
