RON BELL Obituary

RON BELL Ron Bell, 69, of Las Vegas, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2012, after a brief battle with kidney cancer. Ron and I first worked together at the Flamingo Hilton in 1978. That was the start of our friendship, and for the last 34 years we talked daily and met for coffee once a week. To say I am going to miss you is more than an understatement, you were part of my life everyday. Thank you for all the times we shared, for being there when I needed a friend, and for being, as you said often, a best buddy. I know how much you loved your family and how proud you were of your girls, and they of you. I can't believe you are gone and that I won't be able to meet you at Barnes and Noble for coffee. It hurts deep, love you buddy.

This news just makes me so sad. Ron gave me my first Ad agency job as a graphic designer 2 weeks after I moved to Las Vegas in April of 1984. I LOVED working for him and will never forget the team we had at that time. He was like a dad to me and I will NEVER forget his kind heart or the way he could always make us laugh. My heart & prayers go out to his beautiful Tanzy and precious girls - his whole world was you 3 and he always lit up when he spoke of you! I will be forever grateful for the way his genuine kindness blessed my life in the early years of my career. Thank you Ron. Much love to the Bell family always.

Go in peace Ron and just know that your mark on life was made. Marker down my friend.

Ron, enjoyed a great fellowship with you since 1972 when you became P.R. Director for the Horseshoe. Too bad our timing was off for our Internet success in 1998. Catch a movie in heaven. Will miss your smile.

To the Bell family,

Please accept my condolences for your loss.

Ron was a true gentleman, a pioneer in the Las Vegas advertising community where he led with expertise and passion. As part of the many conversations we had over the years discussing advertising truths and “isms”, we would often segue into talking about our families. His eyes lit up every time as he regaled me with stories about each of you - always ending with how proud he was to be your father or husband.

I am truly sorry for your loss and am sending you my thoughts and prayers.

If there was an Ad Man who cared more for his clients than Ron, I've never met one. If there was a friend who would do more for his friends than Ron, I've never had one. And if there was a husband and father that cherished his family more than Ron, I'll never know one.

Ron was a wonderful guy, and a loyal friend. I would hear from him once or twice a year about some project I was working on, and always with a kind word. He also bragged on his family whenever he called. His talents as an ad man are unquestioned. My thoughts with his family.

R.I.P. RON BELL. The former advertising and marketing director (1976-77) of Reno's Gold Dust Hotel-Casino and Gold Dust West passed away in Las Vegas from cancer a few days ago. He leaves a wife, Tanzy, and two daughters, one of whom became a writer on "Saturday Night Live." Had he chosen to do so, he could have been one of the best standup comics in the world. I'm sure my old friend left 'em laughing. Adios.

If ever anyone had a talent for enjoying life, it was Ron. Jim and I just saw him, looking so proud of his daughters' success. A very kind soul, always. I must agree with Curt. Still can't believe he's gone and so glad we got a last big bear hug when we expected him to have another 20 years among us.

Ron will always be remembered for that great personality and wit. We have been friends for over 25 years. The lord must have need a great ad man. Blessings to his family. We will all miss Ron. Curt Thompson
