Thomas Kelliher Obituary

Thomas F. Kelliher 1918 - 2011 LONGMEADOW - Thomas F. Kelliher died on August 12, 2011. Thomas was born in Spring-field, on March 30, 1918, the son of Thomas and Mary (Droney) Kelliher. He was raised by his aunts Mary, Anna and Helen Kelliher. He graduated from Cathedral High School in 1936 and attended Manhattan College in New York City. During World War II he served in the Army Air Corp in the European Theater. He was awarded the Air Medal with 13 oak clusters. He spent 50 years in the automobile business. Tom was a lifetime member of the Springfield Elks. He was a parishioner of Holy Name Church and was inducted into the Holy Name Sports Hall of Fame. He was an avid golfer and had a passion for reading. Tom is survived by his wife Kathryn (Welch) Kelliher of 67 years. He leaves his 5 daughters, Maureen Bell and her husband Tom of Springfield, Patricia Cosgriff and her husband Bill of Springfield, Bambi Martin and her husband Buddy, of Springfield, Thomasina Glynn and her husband Phil of Longmeadow and Ellen King and her husband Matt of Longmeadow. He also leaves a son, James Kelliher and his wife Nancy of Springfield, 16 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Robert. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral mass that will be held on Monday (August 15th) 11:00 AM at Holy Name Church, Springfield. There are no calling hours. Donations in Tom's memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress St. 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02210. Providing care and service to the family is Hafey Funeral Service, Springfield.

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any man's death diminishes me".
