DAVID HANCOCK

David Graham Hancock Jr., 84, passed away peacefully Friday, Dec 21, 2012, after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his first wife Ann Hancock and his second wife, Elna Hancock.

Mr. Hancock was born March 15, 1928, in Montgomery, AL to David Graham and Mary Frances Hancock. After graduating Lanier high school, he attended Auburn University where he finished with a degree in architecture. Mr. Hancock spent over 50 years as an architect, mostly with P H & J Architects in Montgomery, and served in the Army during the Korean War.

Mr. Hancock enjoyed Auburn football and was a season ticket holder for many years. He sold his seats on the 50 yard line only after his health kept him from attending the home games. A long time member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Mr. Hancock also served the community for many years as a member of the Kiwanis club. He was a wonderful husband, father, uncle and grandfather, but most of all, he was a faithful Christian and loved serving his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Mr. Hancock is survived by his three children, David Hancock, Carolyn Walker and Ann Cullen Catington and his five grandchildren, Ann and Michael Hancock, Katheryn and Elizabeth Walker and Mary Francis Catington, as well as his brother James Hancock of Birmingham.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM on Sunday, December 23, 2012 at White Chapel Funeral Home in Montgomery, AL, with a graveside service following at 2:30 pm at Greenwood Cemetery.
