WILLNITA COOK

COOK, Willnita Wyatt "Nita" Cook, 85, of Atlanta, died February 11, 2013. Mrs. Cook was originally from Montgomery, AL. She graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in 1945 and from the University of Alabama in 1949. After graduation she began a career in journalism with the Anniston Star. She then came to Atlanta and worked for Life of Georgia where she met her future husband. Nita was a professional journalist and wrote for several local newspapers over the years. She enjoyed traveling, painting, cooking, gardening and bridge. She will be remembered for her dry wit and sense of humor. She was a former long-time active member of St. James United Methodist Church in Atlanta. She was preceded in death by her husband, John S. Cook and her parents Morris and Tinsie Wyatt and is survived by her daughter, Susan Chastaine Cook Watts (John F.); son, Wyatt S. Cook (Sheryl Somers); grandchildren, Madeline Cook, Stephanie Cook, Jonathan Watts, Nita Putnam (Travis); great granddaughter, Caroline A. Putnam; and sister, Jeanette Wyatt Earnest (LC). Contributions may be made to St. James United Methodist Church, 4400 Peachtree Dunwoody RD, Atlanta, GA 30342. Graveside services will be Friday, February, 15, 2013 at 2 P.M. at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs, GA. Arrangements by H.M.
