Patrick J. Kelly, of Somerset, died on February 22 at home. He was 79 years old. Born in Manhattan, NY, he lived in Westchester before moving to Somerset 46 years ago. Mr. Kelly was employed as a property and casualty underwriter for many years with the Continental Insurance Company in Cranbury, retiring in 1992. He was an Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart Grammar School and Cardinal Hayes H.S. in the Bronx. He then graduated from Manhattan College in 1954 with a B.A. in History. He was a communicant of St. Matthias Church in Somerset and an usher for 25 years. He was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and Habitat for Humanity. He also enjoyed woodworking.

He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers and a sister. Surviving are his loving wife of 50 years Maureen Mahon Kelly, two sons Thomas Patrick Kelly of Pittstown, NJ and Christopher Kelly and his wife Debbie of Franklin Township, two daughters: Catherine and her husband Stephen Andrews of New Fairfield, CT and Maura and her husband Paul Rusen of Morristown. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Virginia, Caroline, Sara and Emily.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 8:15a.m. from the Boylan Funeral Home, 188 Easton Avenue in New Brunswick followed by a 9a.m. Mass at St. Matthias R.C. Church in Somerset. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 7-9p.m. only.
