BUD SMITH Obituary


A Memorial Service and Military Honors for Mr. Bud Smith, 61, Daytona Beach, FL who passed on Thurs., March 1, 2012 in Daytona Beach will be Sat., March 10, 2012, 4 PM at RJ Gainous Funeral Home, Inc. There will be no public viewing. A repast will be at the Smith's Family home, 723 Madison Ave., Daytona Bch. Mr. Smith was born Sept. 8, 1950 in Blountstown, FL. His family relocated to Daytona Bch in 1961. He graduated from the former Campbell Senior High School in 1968. After graduation he attended Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University for 3 years. He also attended Chipola College where he received his Brick Mason Contractor License. Bud proudly served in the United States Army as an MP during the Vietnam War Era. He returned to Daytona Bch where he made his permanent residence and career as a brick mason. He was active in the election of Daytona Mayor Yvonne Scarlett-Golden. He was a season ticket holder of Bethune-Cookman University's football games and active in the happenings of his local community. Bud is preceded in death by his father, John D. Smith; his mother: Mary Agnes Smith; sister: Minnie Lois Garrett. He is survived by his wife: Debra Smith; daughter: Carla King; two sons: Eric Lamar, Bud, Jr. "BJ"; two brothers: Michael Smith; Louis Smith; four sisters: Cecelia S. Henderson; Juwanna Smith; Dezzie Smith-Walker (Maurice); Jacquelyn S. Kemp; two aunts; an uncle; beloved mother-in-law: Izora Boswell; lifelong friends: Irving White; Roys Simmons and Abdul Sholaja.

Today is my birthday, however, my heart is with this family. I will always remember each of you. The day I tested to join Navy (3/26/1970), I gave Bud a rided to work at Pantry Pride, and he said "you don't know how to swin". I said "I know but God can". Trust God it will be alright. Love you all.

My deepest to the family.It is hard in looking at my birthday today knowing what the family is going though. I totally understand, however, I did say though, we had Bud as God has planned. Stan is in disbelive as we all were touch by Bud and the entire family. It seem terrible right now but it will be okay. The family is in my prayrs always. The Desmore family.
