It was 6 months, last week. I keep thinking it will get better, at least hurt a little less, but the injustice of it all keeps a tiny flame of rage burning. I suspect it will forever.

You are loved. You are missed.

Dearest Dave, it's been years since I've seen you...but I've never forgotten all the times we spent together. You used to charge me $5 a lesson for learning how to drive a stick shift in the back of Cambridge in LaPlace. Love ya, man. RIP

I come and go from Cincinnati regularly. Whenever I saw you, you would always greet me and seem so happy to see me and we would catch up. You were how I knew I was home. Now I feel just a little more detached from the city - odd that you weren't even from here, but to me you were a part Cincinnati.

From the start you were destined for greatness,...a spark, a breeze, a cool drop of rain... so small yet you left such an enormous impact, like a fingerprint, that cannot be measured or washed away. Those of us left behind are blessed simply by being witness to your life and our loss is unimaginable. I am sorry your time was cut short,...I am sorry for those who missed out on the chance to see your smile, hear your voice, feel your presence, and know the amazing person you were in life and will always remain in heart, for that is truly a loss in itself. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of David...I will miss you more than you will ever know.

bones and i became friends in 1998. He has been not only a best friend but a brother to me. Bones and I spent many nights just talking on the phone while he was Laplace. I am the one who got him in trouble when i called there at 3am. Sorry about that. Bones nickname for me was Deuce. it was classic bones sense of humor. I find solace in knowing he is now with our friend thom khoene who was also one of bones' best friends. Bones said he loved when me and thom sang paradise by the dashboard light by meatloaf at kareoke.. that song made him think of thom. Bones always made me laugh there are no pictures of us without a smile. Bones was the first person to call my phone at 12 01 and wish me happy new year this year. You were truly a light in my life being there for me through the death of Ryan and Thom. I will cherish our friendship forever . I know you know how much i loved you. Your memory will live in my heart forever. Love, Deuce.

Bones touched so many lives, and was an important part of the fabric of a large, inclusive, creative family. He has created meaningful memories for countless people, and made friends for life where ever he went. He is missed, but is unforgettable.

Me and my baby girl Bones never got to meet. Such a shame.

Tim Hurst

April 25, 2011

Dave had a great soul. He loved almost everyone around him and showed it. He especially loved kids and dogs. He was who he was and made no apologies. He did what he wanted to do and had no qualms about it. That is a rare kind of courage in my book, to not just jump into your place in life that everyone expects you to. He meant a great deal to me and I am very hurt that I will never get to see him or talk to him again.
