Francis Wessbecher Obituary

Francis William Wessbecher died April 5 at St. Lucie Medical Center in Florida. He was 84.

Born on Dec. 30, 1926, in the Bronx, N.Y., he lived in Valley Stream, N.Y., before moving to Parsippany in 1969. He wintered in Florida.

Wessbecher was a Navy veteran of World War II.

He was a graduate of Manhattan College and New York University. He was inducted into the Tau Beta Pi Society. Wessbecher worked on the lunar module for the moon space program. Later, he worked on the missile defense gyro system. He was a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

He was a former past grand knight and longtime financial secretary for the Knights of Columbus Parsippany Council 3680.

Wessbecher is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Mary Ellen; his seven children, Robert, Rose Ellen, Francis, Mary Ann, Dorothy, Kathryn and Grace; and his 13 grandchildren, Glenna, Alanna, and Fiona, Maura, Bobby, and Aileen, Frank and Laura, Boone and Skye, and Charles, Becky and Marie.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Par-Troy Funeral Home. Liturgy was offered at St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church in Parsippany.

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any man's death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.
