George Benner Obituary
He was born in Wadsworth and was an Akron area resident all of his life. George served in the U.S. Navy, retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. and enjoyed studying the history of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roth Wayne Benner and brother, Thomas L. Benner. He is survived by his mother, Cecilia Benner; brother, Larry Benner of Cuyahoga Falls; sisters, Linda (George) Buehler of Starksville, Mississippi, Gini (Tom) Racin of Canal Fulton and Kimberly (Lee) Sevier of Twinsburg; sister-in-law, Joan; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncle and other family.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. (Swigart-Easterling, 330-854-2356) www.swigarteasterlingfuneralhome.com

I met George when I worked at Manchester Video. He would visit often and always had a kind word to say. He would even bring lunch to us when we were too busy to go get it ourselves. Such a kind-hearted man. Rest in peace my friend.

My deepest sympathies to George's family. I remember his quite, easy-going demeanor in high school, and he always had a smile and good words for everyone. A really nice guy.
As well, I pay honor for his service to our country.
