Robert Kerr Obituary

Robert J. Kerr went home peacefully, in the arms of his Heavenly Father, on Father's Day, June 17, 2012. He fought a very courageous battle against cancer and he never gave up fighting. He touched many people's hearts along the way and he was an inspiration to all.

He was born March 10, 1945 in Uniontown, Pa. to Anna (Johnson) Kerr and Earl Kerr. He was a graduate of Bedford High School and served in the USMC for six years. He was a long time resident of Stow, where he coached many years of Stow Youth Softball and was a member of Stow United Methodist Church. He was previously employed by Terex and retired from General Motors, Parma plant in January of 2000. After retiring, he and his wife moved to Bonita Springs, Florida where he played on a men's softball league and a shuffleboard league. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and woodworking. "Bob the builder" was a very gifted and talented man who was always willing to help his friends and family, even when he was sick. There was nothing that he couldn't fix. The love for his family and countless friends never went unnoticed and he will be dearly missed by all.

Bob will be especially missed by his loving wife, Lee (Twohey), of 46 years; his daughter, Barb (Ned) Robertson of New Franklin; daughter, Kelly (Bryan) Gill of Norton; grandchildren, Kayla and Chad Robertson and Hunter and Jaden Gill; and his wife's extended family, who was his only family.

His family wishes to extend their heart-felt thanks to the staff of the Cleveland Clinic and Ridgewood Road Hospice Care Center for their kindness and dedication.

Upon Bob's wishes, there will be no services. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or VNS Hospice.

To my amazing Father~ I will miss you here on Earth so much but your in the arms of your Heavenly Father who you were able to meet for the first time on fathers day after spending most of the day with you wife and kids (thats just how you were!)You are maybe a little man but however the strongest man I know:) A fighter thats for sure. The number of people you have touched in your life (even though your not much of a talker) is amazing. Even though at the end stages of your life you no longer had a tongue or vocals you still did a great job of communicating from your thumbs up to your body language or even your hand slashing across your throat as you pointed to the exit door when you had enough of us for the day...LOL I cant even tell you the number of staff at the Cleveland Clinic G81 floor esp. to Dr. Khan and his ENT staff, Dr Alum and staff to the Hospice staff the last 3 weeks at Ridgewood Rd hospice. Countless you touched when words werent an option. God always has a plan for our life but he never shows us the blueprints. I am thankful for the past 8+/- years of the cancer free life you had in between your Chemo & rady to the time when your cancer returned 9 months ago. Between that time you were able to watch 2 additional grandchildren become young kids.
`Also, the numerous times you sat in all kinds of weather holding the side of your face in pain to watch Hunter race BMX... I cant even tell you how many hearts you have touched there as well with your strength and courage with everything you have went thru.

Your an amazing man! We love you so much!

I had the honor of meeting Bob a couple of weeks ago. I only was around him for a matter of minutes but it was long enough to know his faith in Jesus Christ carried him through his illness.
