SOCORRA DURAN Obituary

Duran, Socorra "Cora", 79, passed away on Friday, September 28, peacefully at home in Fullerton, surrounded by her family, following a lengthy illness. Cora was born in June 27, 1933 in Anaheim, CA. She grew up in Fullerton with 4 sisters, Rachel, Novel, Alice and Betty; 1 brother, Henry. She attended Fullerton schools and graduated from Fullerton High School in 1952. Cora married her high school sweetheart, Richard "Ed" Duran in 1955. Their marriage endured 57 years and produced 4 children. Cora is survived by her husband, Richard; 3 children, Susan, Stephen and Rebecca; 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Cora was a wife, mother, Dietitian at Placentia/Linda Hospital, and Document Controller for Hughes Aircraft where she retired from in 1996. She spent her retirement raising grandchildren, traveling to various excursions with the Fullerton Senior Center, and was an active member in the St. Philip Benzi Catholic Community of Fullerton. She was preceded in death by her daughter, grandson and brother. The viewing will be Sunday, Oct. 7 at 4:00 p.m., followed by a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at McAulay & Wallace Mortuary, Fullerton. The funeral mass will be on Monday Oct. 8th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Philip Benzi Catholic Community, Fullerton. Burial will occur at the Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Orange, with a reception to follow. I will always remember my Aunt Cora's laugh and smile. She was one of a kind and will be missed.
