A. Wayne Fick

Fick, A. Wayne 84 Nov. 21, 1926 Oct. 23, 2011 Wayne passed away Oct. 23, 2011, after fighting cancer for several years. In his last hours, Wayne was surrounded by his loving family-wife of 58 years, Patti Ruth; son, Doug (Janice); daughters, Gail (Frank) Vetorino and Karen (Don) Salvo; grandsons, Chris (Toya) Fick, Nathan (Annie) Fick, and Ron Salvo; granddaugh-ters, Rachel Fick and Rebecca Spliethof; and great-granddaugh-ter, Lola Fick. Wayne was born Nov. 21, 1926, in Portland, graduated from Grant High School and entered the U.S. Navy, serving in WWII. He attended Multnomah College in Portland, and then worked for Fick Brothers Distributing, founded by his father and uncle. He was a past president of General Distributors and served as a valued board member for many years. During this time, Wayne also owned Canby Floral in Northeast Portland, now known as Broadway Floral. Wayne served many years for the American Cancer Society in Multnomah County guiding the chapter as its president. He was a member of the Multnomah Athletic Club, Riverside Golf Club and Portland Golf Club. One of his favorite organizations was the Oregon Humane Society. A funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, at St. John Fisher Catholic Church, 7007 S.W. 46th Ave., Portland. A committal service with military honors will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 31, 2011, in Willamette National Cemetery.
