Glenn Wark Obituary

Wark, Glenn Daniel 89 June 09, 1922 May 25, 2012 Glenn died quietly at his home with his family beside him after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Army followed by a long career with Tri-Met. He married the love of his life, Amy Nelson, and raised three children in the Tualatin area. Glenn was a founding member of Norwood Bible Church and served faithfully there during his life. All who knew him thought of Glenn as a kind and generous man. He was a highly skilled carpenter and left a legacy of many lovely homes that he built for his family and neighbors. In his past time, Glenn enjoyed his hideaway at Lake Merwin for many years. He also had a Christmas tree farm and he cherished each Christmas season when families would visit his tree farm. He is survived by his children, Cheryl Veale (Clayton), Bruce Wark, Craig Wark (Pam); five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Our overwhelming gratitude and thanks for the wonderful care that hospice provided him. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Providence Hospice, 6410 N.E. Halsey St., Portland, OR 97213. A celebration of life is scheduled for Sunday, July 29, 2012.

Our hearts go out to all of the Wark family. I'll never forget the grin on his face and the twinkle in his eyes every time he would destroy Craig or I at horseshoes - which was every game we played.

Many fond memories that I'll never forget - thank you- we will miss you!

Mr. Wark was a great man. One of my memories was riding my motorcycle and I was forced into the ditch by an on coming car near his house. I then picked up my bike and road it to his house for help. Once I found Mr. Wark, he drove me to the clinic, waited for me to get patched up, and drove me back home. He then found the neighbor who ran me off the road and made sure he was more careful in the future! He will be missed...one of a kind.

Our deepest condolences to the family of Glenn Wark. I remember a time when my Mom fell as I was getting ready for school and I ran up to Glenn's home for help and luckily he was home. As a neighbor kid, it was comforting for me to know I had a neighbor so close who I felt could help me get my Mom up. Mom was a very large woman and Glenn was able to pick her up and help her to her feet again. Memories like these speak to the kind of neighbor he was to those in the neighborhood. Several times Glenn came up to my family home with his little John Deere tractor to help Dad who did all his farming with a team of horses. As a kid and young man, I always looked up to Glenn as being a good role model. These are the memories I will always carry about my neighbor Glenn Wark.
Fondly,
Larry Bryan
