H. Brazil Obituary

Brazil, H. M. 'Bud' 83 04/08/1927 01/26/2011 H. M. "Bud" Brazil passed away Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, at Maryville Nursing Home with his sister and daughters by his side. Born April 8, 1927, in Tigard to Henry and Anna (Malsom) Brazil, Bud was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy on the USS Belleau Wood. Bud had a career in the industrial laundry business as executive vice president of Rentex Services Corp. He was active in Rotary, the Elks, and served as chairman of Special Gifts Division for United Way and served on the board of Waverly Children's Home. During his "retirement" years he owned and operated Brazil's Restaurant & Lounge in Lake Oswego. Bud enjoyed playing golf at the Portland Golf Club. He also enjoyed watching sporting events, traveling and spending time with friends and family. He could often be found dancing and singing around the house with his wife, children and grandkids. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years and high school sweetheart, LaPreal. He is survived by his children, Janet, Sharon, David and Laurie; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, in Maryville Nursing Home. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon. We are talking about the man we love!

I just learned of dear Bud's death via the prayer hour on KBVM radio this evening. So sorry to have missed his service. He was such a nice next-door neighbor to my mother at Maryville; his smile would light up the room. Bud was very kind, also, pointing out when other residents needed help. I will always remember him, enjoying the sunshine out in the garden. I am sure the saints and angels are now enjoying his company as much as we did! My deepest sympathy to his family.

We have fun memories of the years on Bohmann Parkway with your family. Bulding forts in the basement with blankets from Northwest Industrial Laundry, playing kick the can, and rowing "Lumpy" up and down Fanno Creek were highlights. Your dad was proud of his family (and his lawn!) and did so much to make our young lives wonderful. We are so sorry for your loss but hope you can take comfort in all the great memories of your dad.
