Howard Canright Obituary

Canright, Howard Earl 87 Sept. 21, 1923 May 14, 2011 Howard Canright of Portland passed away May 14, 2011. Howard was born in Portland to Jesse and Josephine Canright. Howard graduated from Benson High School. A veteran of World War II, he was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart medals while serving in the U.S. Army. After his return from the war he married Lorraine Matteson, and worked for Pacific Power & Light as a lineman and a wireman from where he retired after 30 years. In retirement, he and Lorraine served the Lord and the families and students of the Christian Academy in Japan (Tokyo) as the school building engineer. Howard was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and brother, George. He is survived by his sister, Anna Louise Ross of Portland; children and their spouses, Walt and Tracy Canright of Milwaukie; Shirley and Don Mattson of Maricopa, Ariz.; and Pam and Doug Fogg of Damascus; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A service celebrating Howard's life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2011, at West Portland United Methodist Church, 4729 S.W. Taylors Ferry Road, Portland, OR 97219. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tucker-Maxon Oral School, Portland.

Hi...I assume we are cousins. I am the son of Leslie J. Canright Sr. who was born in Flint, Mi., raised in Battle Creek.
