Lafe was one of my economics professors at OSU and I want to offer my condolences on his passing. I was attending OSU and majoring in economics when he first arrived in Corvallis in 1960 and I considered him one of my favorite professors there. The economics dept was small (then) and he was a significant addition to it. I really enjoyed his teaching then and I know he will be greatly missed. It is a real loss to his family, the community and those of us who had daily contact with him so long ago. There are very few people one remembers for 50+ years, but he was one of them. He was a wonderful teacher.
