Growing up this my favorite restaurant. My sister and I always picked up shrimp rolls on our way home from working at the Southgate theatre. Having traveled all over, there have never been any that compared! What an amazing woman and family - I did not know the story behind the restaurant.

Rest in Peace Lani...we (the Proctor Family) went to Lani Louie's either by dining in or take out...such great memories of Lani, the Sing family and everyone who worked at Lani Louie's...what a legacy she left behind....

Lani worked with her brother Frank Lee and his business partner Tom Sing at the Buy Rite Grocery Store in Oak Grove, Oregon where our family purchased their groceries. My parents became friends with all three of them and when Lani Louie's restaurant opened at the former Wherry's restaurant location on Hwy 99 East, we often enjoyed Chinese food there and enjoyed friendship with Lani. I remember her fondly from my growing up years in Oak Grove and Milwaukie. I am sorry for your loss.

I remember my parents Joe & Mary and their friends would eat at Lani Louie's every weekend. They loved their food. On the night of my Cosmeotology Boards taken in Portland, my mother and I and another 2 friends stopped to celebrate at the restaurant. With my mother telling Lani all about my tests and we were eating platters of shrimp. So many fond memories.( My parents and their friends are now deceased ).

Bless her soul, inimitable loveable Lani, whether dining in or taking out - sixty minutes later and you'd be hungry for the conjuration she attended you the previous hour.
