Lewis Archer McMurran

McMurran, Lewis Archer 85 March 02, 1926 Nov. 14, 2011 Lewis Archer McMurran died Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, at the age of 85. Born, raised and educated in Portland, Lew attended Cathedral School, Central Catholic High School and the University of Portland (class of 1950). After serving in the Pacific Theater during WWII, he worked in sales for ESCO Corporation for 30 years, retiring in 1983. All those who had contact with him over the course of his life knew that Lew was a man of strong faith who was deeply generous. He had the courage to change the direction of his life, becoming a long-time, committed and active member of Alcoholics Anonymous and a member of St. Clare's Parish. Lew is survived by Gina, his wife of 53 years; his son, Lewis, and his wife, Joyce; daughter, Mary Helen, and her husband, John; twin brother, Robert and grandsons, Stuart and Archer. The family gratefully acknowledges the staff members of the VA Medical Center in Portland and Vancouver for their devotion and care in the last months of his life. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, in St. Clare Church, 8535 S.W. 19th Ave, Portland. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Blanchet House.
