Lucille Pollock Obituary

Pollock, Lucille I. 100 Feb. 19, 1912 April 27, 2012 Lucille I. Pollock passed away in Portland April 27, 2012, at age 100, just 12 days after the death of her husband of 70 years, Howard. Born Feb. 19, 1912, in St. Helens, Ore., Lucille was the older of two daughters born to Oscar and Monnie Powell. Lucille graduated from Sellwood Grade School and Commerce High School, where she received honors for scholarship and secretarial skills. As a working girl, Lucille was employed by KGW, retiring in 1944 as executive secretary to the station manager. Until age 97, Lucille and Howard lived in the Eastmoreland Heights home they built in 1950. Lucille was an enthusiastic homemaker. Her creativity was expressed in garden design, crafting and decorating (especially at Christmas). Lucille's social calendar was always full with friends, clubs and community service. She was a member of Moreland Presbyterian Church, Beta Sigma Phi sorority, YMCA YKK Club, Lewis School and Cleveland High School PTAs and was a Cub Scout Den Mother. She is survived by her son, Doug; daughter-in-law, Sandy; and grandsons, Ben and David. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2012, at Moreland Presbyterian Church, 1814 S.E. Bybee Blvd., Portland.
