Nicholas Pilgrino Elardo

Elardo, Nicholas Pilgrino 96 March 17, 1916 Aug. 05, 2012 Nicholas Pilgrino Elardo, beloved husband and father, passed away peacefully on Aug. 5, 2012 at the age of 96. He was born on March 17, 1916 to Antonio and Filomena Elardo and was raised in Portland. He attended Battin Grade School and Milwaukie High School. He married the love of his life, Draga Skoko, on Mother's Day, May 11, 1941. They shared 71 loving years together almost to the day. Nick worked in the family business during the Depression, cutting, hauling, selling and delivering cord wood for $2 a cord. He later owned and operated Deluxe Fuel Company and retired in 1978. Throughout his life he loved gardening and fishing. He was an all-star softball player, a proficient bowler and rarely lost at poker. Other pastimes include playing pool, horseshoes, golf and family picnics. He is survived by children, Carol, Nick W., Richard and Anthony; sister, Anna Durham; and grandchildren, Lisa, Nichole, Christopher and Matthew. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, 2012 at Holy Family Church. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
