Randall Peter Brindley

Brindley, Randall Peter 68 April 06, 1943 March 31, 2012 Longtime Sandy resident Randall Peter Brindley passed away Saturday, March 31, 2012, at home after a lengthy illness. Randy was born April 6, 1943, in Portland to William and Lydia Brindley. He attended Madison High School and graduated from Linfield College with a Bachelor of Science in 1965. He spent six years in the U.S. Army Reserves. In 1968 he opened and operated Brindley Distributing Co., finally retiring in 2010. On Oct. 4, 1978, he married Pamela (Joscelyn). They raised their daughter Melissa in Sandy where he would set up elaborate treasure hunts outdoors for her. He built her a playhouse and taught her to fish. One of their favorite things to do was to go to every fishing derby they could find. Randy was an artist who transformed the home he shared with his wife and daughter and the grounds surrounding it into a beautiful retreat. He was athletic, artistic and creative. He played musical instruments, carved beautiful sculptures and raised blooming flowers from seeds every year. In 2007 he and Pamela started traveling; taking four cruises to Alaska and one to Mexico. They traveled to Hawaii, but the Oregon coast and Las Vegas were their favorite destinations. Besides his wife and daughter he shared his life with his dogs, Josh and Ebby, and even his wife's love of cats eventually rubbed off on him; particularly "Boo." He was in regular contact with his childhood friends from his old neighborhood. Once every couple of months they would get together and have lunch at their favorite place on Mt. Hood, then they would go up to Lost Creek and tempt fate by doing a little "off-roading." He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Larry. In addition to his wife and daughter, he is survived by his brother, Norman; several nephews; and many great-nieces and nephews. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date. The family would like to direct any donations to Providence Hospice, who were there for us with support and care for our entire family. Randy, your family and friends love you and will miss you forever.
