The tulips and daffodils are blooming.
My bleeding hearts have flowers. The peonies are sprouting and the hostas are growing like crazy.
Everywhere I look, there is a memory of you.
I miss you.
Love you, Granny!

It's been almost 5 years, and with the weather changing, the new fall season here and Halloween. It fills me with joy to think about the cookies we would receive, the candy corns (yum) and the black licorice (yuck) on them. But I always enjoyed them. It just is not the same, without you here.

Grandma, it's been 3 years and this time of year always reminds me of our cookie packages your'd give us. Or as a kid gathering for Christmas Eve. It just isn't the same....

It is such a sad day.
I still wake with a start almost every day wondering which direction we will travel. What errand do we run? Which Doctor do we see? One would think. . . after a year, these feelings would abate. . but they haven't.
We all lost so much one year ago today.

Yesterday, as we sat on the Ross Island bridge during morning rush hour, Isaac noticed the twin OHSU trams. "Nana, what's that?" I explained that that the trams are like busses that transport people up the big hill. Watching the brilliant silver trams ascend and descend with the early sunlight sparkling against the incredible July sky, he asked, "Is that how Granny got to Heaven?" Once I regained some composure, I thought, what better way to go to Heaven?
"Yes, Isaac, that is how Granny went to Heaven."
As traffic started to move again, and we were leaving the bridge, he very quietly asked, "Is she coming back?"
No, not this time, Isaac.

You have taught me alot growing up. You've inspired me, and gave me hope. I look up to you and grandpa soo much its ridiculous. You had the patience to show me right from wrong. I have so many GREAT memories with you. Snow bunnies, sinking mud, hiding under your bed from my mom, word searches, peanut butter pancakes and mashed potatoes, the woods, the "ghosts" upstairs, picking black berries, the sticks you would threaten me with, making cookies, making forts.. among soo much more. I could always rely on you and grandpa to be there for me. I hope that someday I can grow up to be at least half the person you were.
Time heals all the pain, but it still hurts everyday that your not here. I love you!

All my life you were forever —
Not a day of the world without you in it.
Now the distance feels too far
Though you are in it still —
white peonies
and the songs of little birds.

So although I go about my daily routine every day, there is not a day that goes by that I don't think of you granny! I have visited your house quite often in the last month and I miss having you there. I miss you scrambling after my kids to get crayons, cookies, water, free stickers you received in the junk mail, etc. The kids are missing you a ton as well! I miss our talks about how to clean the house more efficiently, or the advice on men, but most of all the stories you told me that had me laughing soooo hard! Even up to your last days of your journey on earth you still had funny things to say! Such an amazing women!
I am thankful I was able to put a heritage book together with all your stories, unfortunately I don't think I was able to share it with you!
Want you know I am thinking greatly about you and I miss you tremendously!
LOVE YOU GRANNY!!

If Roses grow in Heaven,
Lord, pick a bunch for me.
Place them in my Mothers' arms
and tell her they're from me.
Tell her that I love and miss her,
and when she turns to smile,
place a kiss upon her cheek
and hold her for a while.
Because remembering her is easy.
I do it every day.
But there is an ache within my heart
that will never go away.
Thank you, Suzanne, for sharing your verse with us.

Dear Granny,
You have given me many years of fun times and happy memories.
You have shared funny stories, and sad stories with me. None of which I will forget.
Your experiences you have shared, I will forever keep close in my heart.
I miss you more then ever.
Things are "just plain caddy-whompus"
without you.
Thank you for being The Best Granny Ever!
I love you,

Dear Granny,
Thank you for filling my life with your kindness, warmth, generosity and unconditional love. I will always cherish our giggles, acting silly to get a smile and your mischievous grin. Making cookies, seeing Rhododendrons in bloom, reusing Ziploc baggies, pulling weeds or repairing something with duct tape, will forever make me think of you. Missing you so much it hurts! Love, Tracie

Granny,
You taught me so much, loved so much, and opened a world of beauty to the kids and me! Because of you, I learned how to be a better parent and to enjoy the good and the bad because in the end it is all a lesson of life.
You will forever be in my heart, mind and soul I can only hope that I will be a good mother in law and granny in the ways you taught me!

We had many, many "times" together. Granny is not just leaving a big hole in my life, but also in my heart. And, although I asked for peace for her through her struggles the last few years, I still am not ready to let her go.
In the inevitable words of Dr. John Greves (the last time we saw him),
"You're a trooper! Just remember. . We Love Ya!"
