JOAN HELEN BODDEN 1937-2011 Joan Helen Harper Bodden, died suddenly on September 20, 2011, at the young age of 74, in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. She was nicknamed "Spirit" as she always had plenty of it. She graduated from Philadelphia University of the Arts; later Joan became the first woman to own an Advertising Agency in Philadelphia, where she spent the majority of her life. She was born in 1937 in Claymont, DE. She was a great friend, mother and grandmother to all and loved life to its fullest. Joan was an avid Equestrienne, tennis player, ballroom dancer and loved animals. Her approach to life was simple, "may the best of your past be the worst of your future". She is survived by son, Chris; daughter, Loren and son-in-law, Richard King; brother and sister-in law, George and Sondra Hurley; brother-in-law, Jim Piecara; ex-husband, Max Bodden; grandchildren, Rachel, CJ, Chloe Brooke and Austin; nephews and nieces, Cole, Nicky, Jessica, Gage, Elizabeth and Douglas. She was predeceased by sister, Carole Piecara and father and mother, George and Anne Hurley. Too numerous to mention are her cousins and extended family members. There will be a visitation for family and friends at Howard-Price Funeral Home 754 US Highway 1, North Palm Beach, FL on Thursday, September 27, 2011 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. I was saddened to learn of my friend Joan's death. Along with my friend Pam, we were all friends for many years. We met playing tennis at Riverside.
Joan was indeed a colorful character and we got together every month or so up until the time she became ill and made the move to Florida.
She loved telling us about Chris, Lauren and the grandchildren.
I am glad to have known her and been a friend for so many years.

Chris and family,
We were devastated to hear of the loss of your mom. She was so full of life that your loss leaves an emptiness.
Joanie Body (as we would call her) would always remark that she couldn't understand how she had an Aquarius as a CPA since our signs weren't compatible. But that didn't stop her from being a great client for over 15 years!
After playing tennis at Riverside, Joanie and I would sit in the parking lot and she would regale us of her hilarious stories of the Eagles, her friends and how proud she was of her children.
My sincerest condolescences to your family and you. She touched us deeply and made us laugh. There are just too few people who could do it like 'Joanie Body' could.

Joanie Bodden was one of a kind. She could hold a conversation with the President of the United States, as well as the person sitting next to her at Dirty Frank's.
I will miss her telling me stories of her life, how she won roller skating trophies, horseback riding, being on the Phil Donahue Show, just to name a few. She was also very proud of what she accomplished in her career, often telling me of the work she did in Wildwood, New Jersey and her ability to attract VIPs to her events.
But mostly, I will remember how good she was to me and my siblings growing up in Philadelphia. She was our surrogate mother.
Joanie was a very beautiful woman, both inside and out.
She often told me of the love she had for Chris and Loren, and how blessed she was to have two wonderful children.
I know that Joan is now with her mother, father and sister in a better place.
I can only imagine the laughs they are having.
Rest in peace Joanie.

Max and Chris, I've known you the better part of my adult life. I've watched Rachel, CJ and Chloe grow up. My heart grieves with you.
