Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Koch Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,

To Mike's Precious Family, Dear Friends and to All That Love Him:
As the New Year approached, I thought I didn't want to go forward as I felt I was leaving Mike behind. Now, how can it be that one year has passed since God called him home? As his many, beloved friends have told me, they feel as I that he remains with us in our daily thoughts and prayers. I reserve time each day to privately celebrate and honor his life. I never think of Mike without thoughts of his buddy, Nate, their service and ultimate sacrifice so my beloved family and all Americans can maintain our daily freedom. May God hold them in His arms with eternal love. God bless you all for your sacrifice. With eternal appreciation,

I miss you, bud. I hate that we haven't seen each other in over 2 years because of our work schedules. Now that you are at Arlington, you are closer to me than you have been in a long time.
I always knew you would make it in the teams mentally, but I never thought your body would hold up. I am glad I was wrong. I miss you so much. I looked up to you so much and I was so proud when you said that I would have made it through BUD/S if I tried. You are the definition of the "quiet professional". Everytime I come to a point in my life when it gets tough, I think "what would Mikey do in this situation?". I don't know much of what happened to you in the end but I know you were doing what you love and doing it very well, and you were with your friends, teammates. Some of the best times in my life came when we served together.
Nothing bothered you. The hardest time came when I had to leave my friend in a goddamn box in that field. There is so much more I have to say but it is too much to even think of right now. I love you, bud. I hope to see you one day soon.

To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

Mike was not only a great SEAL but he was a great man and an awesome cousin. He was one in a million! He didn't talk about his job but we all knew how much he loved it and he was great at what he did. I couldn't be prouder of him. I love and miss him so much! He lives on in our hearts and memories. I live each day now with his words in my head. "If you don't live life on the edge you'll miss the view." Mike was the best cousin i have ever had. I'am so proud of him for what he did and of course for the purpose. Everyone respected him, and we always will. He did his job respectfully and very very well. No one in the Navy will ever replace him, He was the best.. "I love you Mike"

February 14, 2008

Mike and I lost contact for about 10 years now, he left for basic and I just left LaPlata. Now, more then ever, I wish I went and found him just to say hi. Mike and I were good buddies for a long while and he had two character traits that I will always remember about him.

The first thing is that no matter what he was doing or what he was involved in he did it the best that he could, he never held back and he never made excuses. Weather he was playing football, or learning how to use the machines in the metal shop, or studying for school: He put everything he had into whatever he was doing. That’s why when he first told me that he was going to be a Navy Seal I never had any doubts. People who didn't know him well would say becoming a Seal is tough, not everyone makes it. I always told them "I don't know about everyone else but Mike will make it".

The second thing I will always remember about him was his ability to have fun and make the people around him have fun. He could say the funniest things at the most random times and everyone would crack up laughing. Or the party would be a blast as it was and Mike would come up with some prop or comment that would just make everyone loose it. We all went skiing one year, probably the winter of 97-98, and the mountain had more grass showing then snow. That didn’t stop mike, he was out there with his T-shirt and sunglasses skiing his heart out. The point is Mike was the definition of “always have fun” and “making the best out of every situation”.

Though I have not seen him for some time I am sure that those of you who have would agree…He was a great guy who always was a pleasure to be around.

I went to high school with Mike and he was my homecoming date junior year. I have never known a more kind soul. When I heard that Mike had become a navy seal I wasn't suprised. He always demonstrated the tenacity and dedication required to serve with the navy's most elite. I, like many others,am devestated to hear that Mike has passed. I am comforted in knowing that we are so fortunate to have brave soldiers like Mike defending the freedom that we take for granted every day. I thank God that I had the opportunity to meet Mike and I will always hold onto the memories we shared. May his family take comfort in knowing how much their son and brother was adored. God bless.

February 13, 2008

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

I would also like to tell you about a website, http://groups.msn.com/SSPSoldierPor
traits/homepage,
where some wonderful people will make wood portraits of your fallen Hero for free for the immediate family. I became aware of this site when I wanted to do something special for Le Ron’s mother.

To The Koch Family & Kathy Howell:
I first met Mike while he was at McDonough H.S., played football with Pat Hoiler, and played against my son, Justin, at LaPlata H.S. The 3 guys quickly became best friends. After PSU, Mike returned to Charles County (MD), Justin left FSU and together they ran the roads & hills of Chas. Co., skydived, worked out for numerous months, and prepared to enter the USN. Together they completed basic training & went on to Dam Neck where our families spent precious weekends with our sons.
These 3 young men sustained their friendship and devotion to one another until the end.
Mike lived his life as an absolute American patriot who will live on in our hearts forever.
On behalf of my family and all those who may not be able to let you know......we're terribly sorry for your loss.
May God bless Mike, your family and America.

With the deepest regret, I have just learned of the death of Chief Petty Officer Koch. As a Vietnam Veteran and the State Chaplain of the Georgia Society, Sons Of The American Revolution, I speak for our President, Charlie A. Newcomer, III and the more than 1,400 SAR members around the State of Georgia in humbly expressing the condolences of a grateful Society. Wrapped in the integrity of service to our nation and the inestimable values of duty, honor and country, your American hero stood on a wall of freedom for us all. This precious life, lived and lost in love of America, epitomized every attribute of patriotism the Sons Of The American Revolution hold dear. It is with great sadness that we received the news of Mike's death. As a military family, it pains us even more so to lose one of our own. In our hearts we honor this young man who paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving his country so honorably as a member of such an elite brotherhood as the Navy Seals. We are proud to have met him. God Bless Mike and his loved ones.

I was very sad to hear that Mike lost his life fighting for our country. I pray for our troops every day and thank them when I see them. They make the ultimate sacrifice that so many are unwilling to make. Mike and I went to high school together at McDonough. We weren't very close but I knew who he was and he seemed like a very nice guy. I will continue to pray for your family so that God will help relieve your pain and sorrow. God Bless Mike and all of our troops.

To the family of CPO Michael Koch - I am so sorry for your loss. Words are so inadequate at this time but know that there are many here across the country praying for you and strength for your family as you honor Michael. He was an honorable and extroardinary person who accepted the risks involved in his job. Thank you for having a son who stood tall for what he believed. He is a hero. Thank you - Jean Mariano - Connecticut

Don,
I heard about Mike's death on the news. I was so hoping this was not
your son, Don. I know how much you loved your children. May you some day find peace in your life again.
My thoughts are with Matt as well. Please let me know if I can help in anyway.
Sincerely,
Mary Ann
