BARTONVILLE - Doyle G. Beaird, 82, of 720 Hatterman St., Bartonville, Ill., passed away at 8:22 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria, Ill.
He was born March 9, 1928, in Bernadotte, Ill., the son of Grover G. and Lena (Munson) Beaird.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Bertha Vaughn, Goldie Parks, Wilma Hyde, Doris Ellis and Twila Simpson; and two brothers, Willis Beaird and Grover (Zeke) Beaird.
Surviving are two sisters, Audrey Pickel and Charlotte Beaird, both of Bartonville; two brothers, William Beaird of Canton and Duane Beaird of Bernadotte; and many, many loving and caring nieces and nephews.
He worked at Caterpillar Tractor for over 31 years, retiring as a machinist in 1977, and then worked for the Journal Star for 18 years, retiring in 1996.
He was a member of UAW Local 974.
He loved fishing, bowling, golfing and gardening.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home in Canton with the Rev. David Utt officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Howard Cemetery in Smithfield.
Memorials may be made to the Red Brick School House in Smithfield.
