Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Barr Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,

Prayer Shawls 4 Fallen Soldiers ([email protected]) is an organization with groups throughout the country who strive to send handmade prayer shawls and/ or lap robes to families who have lost a loved one in service to our country. Members of Trindle Spring Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg, PA would like to honor your son's sacrifice and memory by sending our prayers and comfort through a shawl which we will mail to you. If you are interested, please contact me at [email protected] with the names and addresses and what they would like to receive. We will send them as soon as possible. Also, if you know of any other families who are grieving the loss of a loved one who died serving our country, please pass along my e-mail address, as our organization can no longer get family contacts through the military. May God bless you and comfort you in the days ahead. Sincerely, Lynne

Please know that just as your loved one remains in your hearts and minds; his sacrifice, and that of your family, remains with the people he died defending. The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Aric, but he is my hero. If you would like a copy of this drawing I have posted here, please contact me and I will email that to you.

Alexandra and Family,

I continue to share in your sorrow. In this life we are fortunate enough to meet a few people who leave a lasting imprint on your life. My dear Alex, you and the love for Aric have left that imprint on myself and my family. On this day, I celebrate Aric and his willingness to fight to protect us. In loving memory.

With deepest sympathy for your terrible loss. Everyone at Operation Jersey Cares feels your pain. We love and support our troops. Aric may be gone but not forgotten!

August 8, 2007

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

April 4, 2007

To the Family and Friends of Lance Cpl. Aric J. Barr:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

As we look at old family photos we may want to ask "Why?' But then we look up at the faces of our children, the next generation, and imagine what the wolrd will be like for them as they grow, one filled with hope, and promise and security. And suddenly our "Why?" turns into "Thank You!" With each passing year, and every passing day may we all remember not only the sacrifice, but what it was you were protecting. We miss you so.

Aric, I always enjoyed seeing you at "family" functions because you remended me of myself at that age, quiet, quick and easy with a laugh, and fun to be around. I would have loved to see how you would have "changed the world" in some way as you grew, but I guess you really did, through your example of courage and self-sacrifice for our freedom. I will NEVER forget you and hope to see you when I hit the "Pearly Gates!" They say God only picks the most beautiful flowers for his garden and in you he got the "blue ribbon!" God Bless you!

I feel other than Aric being my blood, that it is the greatest privilege in the world to be able to mold the future of the Corps. Every Recruit that I train will be in your memory brother. Barr Family--

I remember playing in the streets, running around like fools. I remember having sleep overs that never seemed to get old. I remember Aric being one of my good friends growing up. Yeah, he and Josh were closer but it never stopped me from tagging along. When my dad called me with the news of Aric passing, these words flowed more freely than anything I've written before.

God bless the soldiers

God bless their mothers

God bless their willingness to fight for freedom not even our freedom, but the freedom of others

God bless Iraq

God bless the people there

God bless those who have lost--even though it doesn't seem fair

God bless you, Aric

Aric is very special to all of us and we are touched by many things he has said and done in our lives. We are so blessed to have happy memories, silly memories and cherrished memories which will be treasured by each of us throughout our lives.

Aric wrote encouraging KEYS TO SUCCESS for his cousin Ray's 16th birthday last month. We can all gain wisdom from them:

"Use your tallents to your advantage, and don't waste them. Never let someone tell you you're not good enough to do something. Never let frustration get the better of you. Look at everything with a positive attitude, because a negative one will only make things worse. Use constructive criticism to your advantage to better yourself. Learn when and when not to keep your mouth shut, because using both will get you out of trouble from time to time." Love Aric 3/22/04

I'd like to think that if GOD would prefer a military service, it would have to be the Marines. After all, GOD is "Semper Fi", Always Faithful.

Thank you Aric, We love you!

Beautiful Hearts

Beautiful faces abound it's true;

though beautiful hearts there are but few;

On God's good earth are rare; indeed but while they're here they plant a seed.

Of love and kindness never spent; of joy that truly is God-sent.

To say these words is my endeavor; Beautiful Hearts Live Forever

To my sister, Lisa, my brother-in-law, Tony, my nephews Anthony (Tee) & Aaron & their families, & to my dear niece, Alexandra Rose. I can't begin to know what it is that you are feeling over the loss of your baby boy, & little & big brother, Aric, but I know how I feel about loosing my precious nephew. Just know that his passing, tragic as it is will not be in vain. We know that he will live in our hearts forever & for us he will always be alive because where we have him is in our hearts & in our memories & these are ours to keep, take out, & look at any time we want to & nobody can take that away from us. My heart breaks for me out of selfishness for the hole that has been left in it but most of all my heart breaks for you, my sister, Lisa, as Aric's mother & all the rest of you, my darlings. I'm here for you in any way, shape, or form that you need me to be. My love, support, & shoulders are here for you. I went to school with Aric. He was a very nice person who I will remember always. I am very thankful for his bravery but am very saddened that he had to pay the ultimate price for defending our country. I am very glad that I got to know such a wonderful, brave person. God bless the whole Barr family and please know that you are all in my prayers. I am very sorry for your loss. Aric was a wonderful person -- happy and cheerful -- and I will always remember the times we spent together in high school.

To the family of Aric:

There are no words for the ultimate sacrafice Aric has given; he was stationed in Paxs River with my son Lcpl Anthony and he has many fond memories of Aric, to you i give this poem author unkown but it says it all god bless your family

I Give To You My Son

I hugged him as a boy.

And through the years he has become

My greatest pride and joy.

I love him more than I can say,

His life more precious than my own.

But gone are the whims and notions

Of the little boy that I have known.

For the years have passed so quickly

Since the time it all began,

And now he stands before me

With the convictions of a man.

He wants to serve his country

He states aloud with pride,

As I try to sort out the emotions

That I'm feeling deep inside.

A union of the uncertain fear,

Which I cannot control,

And the allegiance that lies deep within

My patriotic soul.

I trust that my years of guidance

Will serve as a strong foundation

As he perfoms the duties requested

From his beloved nation.

God, please guide him as he travels

To the places our Marines have bled,

And walk with him through pathways

where those heroes' feet have tread.

Oh, Sweet Land of Liberty,

Humbly I give you my son,

Praying you'll return him safely home

When his work for you is done.

Aric was in my 3rd grade class at Burgwin Elementary. When hearing about his death, I had fallen asleep with the news on and then hearing his name just woke me up. I hadn't seen him since elementary school, but I remembered his face. My heart goes out to his family. Aric obviously had a special meaning on this earth and I am honored just to be able to say I went to school with someone who served our country. God bless all who know and love Aric.

Aric was one of the first people I talked to my 9th grade year at South. I kept in contact with Aric via internet and phone thru out his service. I was lucky enough to talked to him two days before he left for Iraq. Remember he died protecting all of us which defines a true hero. I will keep the memories of him alive in my heart until the day we meet again.
