CARNEY
ALICIA "SUNNY" (JENNINGS)
Age 42, of Plum, passed peacefully on Saturday, November 3, after a courageous ten year fight battling Carcinoid Cancer. She was married to her devoted husband, Mark; and was a loving mother to Austen, Logan and Nolan Carney; daughter of Patricia Jennings and the late James J. Jennings; daughter-in-law of Dale and Dottie Carney; sister of Judy Phillips (Ray, Jr.), Lynn Pesta (Teddy), Michael Jennings (Vicki Lynn), James Jennings (Sue), Joseph Jennings (Elizabeth), Sheila Fortes (Jim); aunt of Ray Phillips III, Amy Phillips-White, the late Christie Majoy; sister-in-law of Craig Carney (Julia); she is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and was a true friend and inspiration to many. In addition to being an inspiration to family and friends, Sunny inspired carcinoid cancer patients across the globe through her blog, and then her book, "The Sunny Side of Cancer". She spoke at numerous cancer events locally sharing stories of her journey which led her from Basel, Switzerland to all of the top Carcinoid Cancer specialists here in the states. She was an advocate for better diagnosis of the disease and for insurance coverage of treatments. She fought with grace and dignity, never letting the pain inside challenge her faith or diminish her love for life. Memorials may be made to: "Carney Family Fund", c/o S&T Bank, 2190 Hulton Road, Verona, PA 15147. Friends received Monday 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday 3-8 p.m. at Unity Community Church, 215 Unity Center Road, Plum, PA 15239. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Unity Community Church with Rev. Frank Deluce, officiating. Arrangements entrusted to CHARLES W. TRENZ FUNERAL HOME, INC.

I would first like to say how sorry I am for your loss, and that I am praying for Mark and the kids. I also want to say how inspired and encouraged I am from Sunny's blogs. I too am a Carcinoid patient (3 years), and was not handling it to well this last year, but after reading what Sunny has wrote, I am inspired to change the way I view my life with this cancer. I want to give God the Glory, be a more positive, and encouraging example for those around me, and to those I have opportunity to reach. Thank you Sunny, you have changed my life for the better, for ever.

To the Carney & Jennings Family, I am deeply sorry for your loss of Sunny. When Sunny was just a toddler her brother Joe was talking about her and said "She is MY Sunshine". A few years later her sister Sheila said something real similiar because she loved Sunny so much. The pride Joe & Sheila had in her was very obvious. I can only imagine how much prouder the entire family is of her after the inspiring and courageous life Sunny lived. I know her passing is a huge void for you all, especially for Mark & her boys. May God's newest Angel keep watch over and comfort all of you. You are all in my prayers.

With the deepest sympathy, we lost one of the most amazing people who I likely will ever have the chance to know. From the days she was hanging out wiht my sister when I was a young boy, to when she helped me get my first professional job when she was a recruiter, to when I caught the garter at her wedding to Mark, I was fortunate to have the priviledge and honor to have had Sunny touch my life. I often told Sunny that my succes was due to the path she helped set for me but she was always quick to say that it wasn't her and I did did it because God always had a plan for all of us. I am so grateful that my wife Kara got to know her as well and saw the wonderful person that I have known all my life. I'll always know that there is another angel looking over us and that with each sunrise and sunset she is smiling at us reminding us that "it never rains on Sunshine" as Mark once told me.
