Edna Griswold Obituary

Griswold, Edna (Edie)

Edna (Edie) Griswold received her angel wings Sunday, February 26, 2012 and flew to Heaven to be with the Lord and her heavenly family. She was predeceased by her parents, Floyd and Pearl Clark, one brother, Robert Clark and two special nephews, Richard (Dicky) Clark and Charles (Chuck) Pellett. She is survived by her husband, Richard; one son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Linda McManamon; four stepchildren and their spouses, Sherry and Kevin Brown, Dana and Dana Wolfe, Richard and Chris Griswold and Dawn and Jon Pratt; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Marion and Douglas Pellett; one sister-in-law, Grace Clark; several nieces, nephews and many friends. Edie was a wonderful wife and mother and a friend to all who knew her. She was a past Senior Regent of the former Johnson City Moose Club and a volunteer puppy raiser for Guiding Eyes for the Blind, Inc. She was very proud of the dogs she raised that went into service helping the blind and hearing impaired. Edie was also a longtime member of the Antique Auto Club of America and the local charpter of the AACA, the Iroquois Region. She owned and showed a 1972 Chevelle which she personally helped to restore to its original condition and won many national and local awards, including Grand National First and was twice invited to and showed her car at the prestigious Concours d'Elegance. It was once said, you can't have a car show without Edie, so open heaven's gate and ring a bell, ' cause here comes Edie and that darn Chevelle. The family wishes to thank the staff of Broome Oncology and Lourdes Hospice. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at the Fischer-Scholder Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Chenango St. with the Rev. Elvin S. Murphy officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Broome Oncology Patients' Fund or Lourdes Hospice.

Oh what memories we have of Edie and of the many car shows we've attended. Edie and her family never missed the Endless Mts. Cruisers Car Show either! I loved visiting with Edie under her tent at the shows with all the goodies you'd ever want .....sandwiches, potato chips, and her famous CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES. She would always invite you to sit down and chat awhile about....guess what.......CLASSIC CARS. I know the folks up there in heaven will enjoy your stories and that beautiful 72 Chevelle. May God Hold You in His Mighty Hands. Our Sincere Love & Prayers to the family,
