Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this month and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Robbie Mathew Mariano US Army Private.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

Rest in Peace Warrior, your mission is done.... You are still not forgotten. Shane talks about you every single day I see him and how much you are loved and missed. We went and saw Rancid a few months ago and Shane was in the pit the whole time because you would have been there with us. May peace be with you....

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Robbie, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

THE SOLDIERS WE LOSE WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!! THE SACRIFICE THEY MAKE CAN NEVER COMPARE TO ANY OTHER!! MAY HE REST IN PEACE WITH NO MORE FIGHTING IN THE LORDS HANDS
August 17, 2007
There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

To the Mariano family:
I graduated 8th grade with Robbie. I only knew him for 8th grade year, but I could never forget him. From the moment I met him, he made me feel like I fit in. I came into Sierra Christian half way through the school year and he was my desk buddy. He always made my laugh no matter my mood. He was a funny man with such a good heart. I know that I will always hold a special place in my heart for him. I extend to you all my thoughts and prayers for your family. May God place peace and comfort upon your weary hearts in this difficult time. God bless.

I am Robbie's father and I read this site and wanted to tell you about Robbie. Robbie was proud to serve his country in the US Army. The Army was his second family and when he came home on leave prior to be deployed, he was very anxious to get back to his unit in Fort Hood, Texas.
Robbie had many friends in the Army. He met in beloved fiancée, PFC Brittney Power while stationed at Fort Hood. They planned on getting married when they came back from their deployment to Iraq. Brittney was deployed two weeks prior to Robbie.
Robbie volunteered as a gunner for a PSD Detail (Personal Security for personal protection for his Company Commander as well as security for high-ranking military officers visiting unsecured areas.) He died along with his Company Commander and (3) other courageous soldiers.
His best friend and roommate wrote me this email about Robbie, which I want to share with you.
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Mariano,
I am James, one of Robbie's closest friends. I am very; very sorry for your loss, if it's of any relevance, it was a loss for myself and all of the soldiers in the 3rd battalion 16th field artillery as well.
He was the best friend I had while being assigned to the unit. This is my first unit in the United States Army. I have many friends in this unit, but to your son I was closest. The feeling was mutual, I believe. Rob and I had a blast together. I enjoyed every moment of his company.
He was the outspoken one in the group, and always quick to throw a smile on everyone's face. His life was appreciated and wonderful. And although he passed early on, I can tell you first hand he died doing what he loves. He died with many honors.
Again I, and the rest of the soldiers here, feel your loss, for it is ours to.
My name is John S. James Jr. I am from a small Iowan town, with many visits to the West Coast Cali, Arizona and Nevada. I have much family down there as well. So when rob and I first met we were instant friends.
Together we had many late nights spent just talking about life, and sharing moments we had been through. We had much in common and he is considered a life-long friend.
Being as close as we were I have been asked to say a few words for him at his memorial, which I have included in this message. We were roommates. The day he left was very strange. He had packed a three-day duffel for PSD, and not once had he taken on the road with him. However this particular convey he was sure to bring his bag. In addition, the day before he left he put his fiancéeÃ
;¢â‚¬â„
;¢s address on his wall-locker. I'm not trying to make it something it's not I just... well if it was my mother and father I would want them to know.

Remember the Fallen
Robbie Mariano was not only my comrade but also, a dear friend. We lost five very good men on the fifth of January 2006. All of which will be remembered forever, as a family. They were family to the United States Army, family to their mothers, fathers, siblings, wives and children. I will remember the fallen; not by how they passed, but by how they lived.
Rob was a very proud person. He was, proud to be a soldier. He was, proud to serve his country to the best of his abilities. Tough and funny and a little bit kind: that is as near to perfection as a human being can be. I, and anyone, who knew him well, can all say he held all of these qualities.
To me, he was the brother I always wanted. We did everything together: whether it was eating and drinking, checking in to hotels or being politely asked to leave hotels or even just driving to Austin to find the impound yard, he always kept a positive outlook on life, and if not I was there to remind him. Plato said you can discover more about a person in an hour of play, than in a year of conversation. Although we were never given a year of conversation, we were aloud hours of play.
I knew him as the life of a party. I remember a party, and the host had filled his bathtub with ice and several different brands of beverages. The moment he made eye contact with the tub, he attacked with the same zeal for play that he demonstrated in every other aspect of his life. On another occasion we were at the local Putt-Putt and he seen a statue of a zebra, and with no questions asked, no provocation. He immediately took it upon himself to get on for the Kodak moment, which is worth a thousand words then, and now.
Death is not the worst thing that can happen to men. He never took a moment of his life for granite. "Live every moment of your life, as it may be the last", is a quote he took with him everywhere. Adapt and overcome is the only advice I can give to the all of you touched by a life taken, and never forget to remember the fallen.
t;With much love and respect,
John S. James Jr.

Psalm 23
1
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3
He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock!
