David Erickson

David Ross Erickson, 66 ROCKFORD - David Ross Erickson, 66, of Rockford went to be with the Lord on Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, after battling many serious illnesses. He was born Oct. 13, 1943, in Rockford to Harold and Phyllis (Burdick) Erickson. He was a graduate of Auburn High School. He served in the Air Force in Europe, was a member of the all-Europe baseball team and an overall sports fanatic. Married Judy Hauch on Oct. 25, 1969. He attended Ozark Bible College. David and his wife served the Lord as house parents in Erie and Switz City, Ind. He was a current member of Calvary Christian Church, where he served as an elder and Sunday school teacher, and was a former member of Central Christian Church. Survivors include wife; children, Kim (Peter) Getter, Karie (Steven) Palm and Kurt (Jenn) Erickson; brothers, Paul (Donna), Rusty; sisters, Carol (Dick) Hamer and Beth Weaver; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Service at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, in Central Christian Church, 6595 Guilford Road, with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time. Pastor Steven Doyle will officiate. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, in Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services, 7000 W. State St. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family.
