Cecil Leroy Harrison

Together Again
Cecil Leroy Harrison passed away peacefully on October 20th, 2012 at his home in Salt Lake City. He was born on January 18th, 1921 in Malad, Idaho. The son of Lorenzo and Edith Mock Harrison. He graduated from Malad High School. He married Nola Bea Howell on June 7th, 1941. They were marred for 68 years until she passed on June 13th, 2009.
They moved to California where he went to photography school and then their son Lamont was born. Then WWII began. He started working for Lockheed. He was very proud of the work he did there for the war effort. Cecil joined the Marines and served in WWII. He was in the 22nd Regiment, 1st Battalion, and 6th division of B Company. Nola moved back to Malad, where their son Micheal was born. After the war they raised the boys in Malad then later moved to Tremonton where he opened Harrison's Photography Studio. Photography turned into Tro-Plak and Tremonton to North Salt Lake. Tro-Plak turned into Trophy King and North Salt Lake to Yale Avenue. They had a very successful business for over 30 years. In 1994 they moved into the house in front of his grandson. (Lamont later joined them there after he retired).
Cecil enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren even though the kids didn't know it Cecil and Nola were always teaching them a lesson as they played. Cecil loved fishing and camping most of all. He and Lyman were the kings of the Makay River. He played the guitar, wrote his own music and lyrics and was a published musician and poet. He loved to dance and wherever he was there was laughter.
He is survived by his brother Dale (Evelyn) Harrison; sisters Lucille Harrison and Betty (the late, Lyman) Wight; grandchildren Mike (Corina) Harrison and Michelle Harrison, and their mother Cindy (Sid) Miller; great-grandchildren Dave (Heather), Mark, Amanda (Landon), Scott and Cody; and great great-grandchildren Madisyn, Bracken, Brycen and Daxton.
He is preceded in death by his wife Nola; both his sons Michael and Lamont; parents; and sister Maxie.
Grave dedication and military honors will be held on Tuesday, October 30th at 12:00 PM at the Malad City Cemetery. There will be a luncheon at the Malad Senior Center for family and friends immediately following the service.
