Mrs. Skipper was such a dear to my little granddaughter, Megan Riggs, when she arrived at Lackland in October of 2008. I was able to visit the class several times when I was in Texas and found her an amazingly creative teacher for those little ones. My sympathy goes out to her parents, sons, and grandchildren. We were lucky enough to have Mrs. Skipper as our daughter McKenna's teacher for both pre-k(3) and pre-k(4). She was an amazing teacher and had such a positive impact on the children she taught. Mrs. Skipper had a selfless devotion to those around her. She personally helped our family through some tough times and we will be forever grateful to her. McKenna thought the world of Mrs. Skipper, as did our entire family.

I knew and worked with Marilyn for 18 years at Lackland Elementary. She was kind, funny, selfless, giving, patient, and friendly. I enjoyed helping her try to figure out how to use technology and found her sense of humor delightful. Her students adored her, and she devoted herself to them and to our profession. She was a great role model, colleague, and friend. I will miss her dearly, but take comfort in the fact that she is with her beloved husband again....preparing a wonderful home for her boys when they return to their home in Heaven with her some day. May God bless and watch over her boys and comfort them. We all need to celebrate her life and legacy.....and all the wonderful memories we hold in our hearts and how she touched our lives in such a special way. We love you Marilyn.
