Michael Guzick Obituary

Michael J. Guzick Jr., 64, of 318 N. Coal St., Port Carbon, passed away Sunday evening at his residence.
Born in St. Clair, Jan. 13, 1947, he is the son of Loretta McNulty Guzick Sponhouse, Port Carbon, and the late Michael J. Guzick Sr.
He attended the former St. Mary's Catholic School, St. Clair, and was employed as a bus maintenance technician for the STS Transportation System, until his retirement.
He was a member of St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church, Port Carbon, and a lover of country music.
Preceding him in death was a son, Lee Schwalm, in 2006; a sister, Sally Ann Yeager, in 1998; and a stepfather, Walter Sponhouse, in 2000.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Bonnie Spease Guzick, to whom he was married 36 years; a son, James Schwalm, Port Carbon; a stepdaughter, Brenda, wife of Randy Miller, Schuylkill Haven; a brother, Walter Sponhouse, Schuylkill Haven; three sisters, Irene, wife of Stirling Santee, Pottsville, Kathleen, wife of Thomas Adamchick, Saint Clair, and Loretta, wife of Michael Skoufalos, Port Carbon; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church, Port Carbon. Officiating will be the Rev. David Karnes, pastor. Viewing will be at 10 a.m. until the time of Mass Thursday at the church. Interment will be in the Old St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, St. Clair. Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, Ashland, is in charge of arrangements.
