Claudia CHERBERG God received our beautiful angel, Claudia Cherberg, on March 13th, 2012. Claudia passed unexpected ly surrounded with photos of loved ones and her beloved cats in her Edmonds home. Born Sep tember 24th, 1971, Claudia grew up on Mercer Island. She enjoyed Indian Princesses, Girl Scouts, Karate, ice hockey, drama, bas ketball, and golf before graduat ing from Mercer Island High School in 1990. Claudia developed an undying love of baseball. She played five years with the Boys & Girls Club, where she was the only girl competing in an all-boys league. Her passion for baseball continued after she attended Seattle Pacific University and at age 23 she returned to the Island to pursue her dream and became the first female coach in the Bel levue Pony League. Eventually her drive lead to her becoming a Mercer Island Baseball Commis sioner. Her determination was highlighted in articles by the MI Reporter, Journal American, and on KING TV. Claudia overcame many physical obstacles in her life and was a passionate champi on for the underdog. She demon strated courage, strength and perseverance in everything she took on. Claudia worked for Group Health Cooperative and re ceived several awards for her compassion, dedication and cus tomer service. She sincerely cared about the people she met and they felt it. She was baptized at St. James Cathedral in 1997 and found great comfort in her spiritual journey. Claudia is sur vived by her parents Clyde and Shirley Cherberg of Mercer Island, sisters Diana and Teri (Brett) Harris, nephews Chase and Austin and nieces Alex and Natalia as well as many relatives throughout the Seattle and Puget Sound area. She touched many lives in her short time with us and to those who were lucky enough to call her friend. She will be dearly missed by her family and all the wonderful friends that knew her. A Funeral Mass and Celebration of her life will be held at St. James Cathedral in Seattle on April 13th at 2pm. My sincere condolences to the family of your beloved Claudia. While I did not know her personally, I feel as though I did through photographs and stories shared with me over the years by her sister, Teri.
I also know how very loved she was by her entire family and wish to express how sorry I am for the loss of your beautiful daughter, little sister, and aunt.
