Alma Buckley-Packer Obituary

Alma G. (Sullivan) Buckley-Packer, aged 86 years, of Middleboro, formerly of Jamaica Plain, died on Friday, February 4, 2011, at the Hannah B.G. Shaw Home, Middleboro, after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late James W Buckley, and the late Robert Eugene Packer, who predeceased her on October 14, 2001. Born in Boston, January 30, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Eli and Elsie M. (Mitchell) Sullivan. Alma worked as a meat wrapper, at the A & P Grocery Store, and Capital Foods in Brockton, until she was 83 years old. She was active in the V.F.W. Auxiliary, and had worked many years as a warden for the Voting Polls in Middleboro. She was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, and also enjoyed Scrabble and spending time with her family. She is survived by three sons; James W. Jr and his wife Cheryl Buckley of Burlington, Stephen A and his wife Beth Buckley of Raynham, and David E. Buckley of Brockton, one daughter; Karen A Stevens-MacNayr and her husband Glenn MacNayr of Middleboro, one brother; Harold Sullivan of CT, one sister; Marge Bragg of Middleboro, 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held in the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak St., Middleboro, on Wednesday, Feb. 9 from 4 - 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will take place in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to: The Hannah B.G. Shaw Home Activities Fund, 299 Wareham St. Middleboro, MA 02346, would be appreciated.
