Kaethe Wooster Obituary

Kaethe L. Wooster, 81, of Belleville, N.J., passed away Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010. A visitation will be held Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Megaro Memorial Home, 503 Union Ave., Belleville, N.J. (megaromemorialhome.com), followed by a 1 p.m. service. Born in Eldorado Misione, Argentina, the daughter of Otto and Klara Reuchle, German immigrants, Kaethe came to the United States in at the age of 18 unable to speak English. She eventually learned to speak fluent English, Spanish and German, and became a U.S citizen in 1952. Known to her friends and family as Kate, she was energetic and hard working with a "get it done" attitude. She grew up on a farm, where planting tobacco and raising horses and farm animals was the norm. She had a love and respect for nature. Gardening was a great joy in her life and her green thumb was the envy of her family and friends. She loved animals, especially her cat, Mexico. She believed in the importance of being a good neighbor and friend. She was both to many people in her life. Kate was an excellent chef. She enjoyed crocheting doll clothes and ornaments for her grandchildren. She loved to travel and enjoyed trips to the beach. But most of all she loved being with her family and friends. Kate leaves behind to cherish her memory, her dearly loved son, Gary Wooster and his wife, Phyllis; her beloved stepchildren, Sandra Swenticky and her husband, Fred, and William Wooster and his wife, Pat; dearest grandchildren, Eric and Jason Wooster, Fred Swenticky Jr., Donna Janoczkin, Susan Portaleos, Cindy Delia, and Denise Thiel; 11 great-grandchildren and many friends and relatives. She was the devoted wife of the late Walter O. Wooster, and loving mother of Robert E. Wooster. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mary and Martha Soup Kitchen, 393 Washington Ave., Belleville, N.J. 07109.

Kaethe, you are with Robert now. It was my pleasure and honor to have known you as a colleague and a friend. You ran a tight ship at Oakeside and I appreciated everything you did but mostly who you were. I can't believe we were chatting just a few months ago. Godspeed dear friend. Love, Lisa

Kate was a good friend and person. I have many fond memories from Oakeside where we worked together. She took care of my cat Hobie when I went away on a trip. She was a special person.
