On Tuesday, May 17, 2011, the Lord sent an angel to take Barbara F. Gist, 78, of Irvington, N.J., formerly of Jersey City, N.J., home to eternal rest. The viewing is on Monday May 23, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Christ The King Catholic Church, 768 Ocean Ave., Jersey City, N.J. The Funeral Mass is at the church on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 11 a.m., preceded by a final viewing at 10 a.m. Interment is in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, N.J Arrangements are entrusted to Watson Mortuary Service, 26 Gifford Ave., Jersey City, N.J. Please sign the guest book at www.watsonmortuaryservice.com. Born on Sept. 22, 1932, in Jersey City, Mrs. Gist was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many. She was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Charlotte Curry; her husband, Whitney E. Gist, and son, Whitney P. Gist. She was the loving mother of Glenn L. Curry, Curtis P. Curry, Frederick P. Gist and Diana M. Gist. Barbara was one of nine siblings, and is survived by Paul Curry, Jean Van Buren and Charlotte Curry. She leaves to mourn 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces and many loving friends.
