Mrs. Carpenter fostered my love of music and my love of piano. I still play piano to this day thanks to all Mrs. Carpenter taught me. She believed in me, encouraged me, stood up for me, and put up with me (I didn't always practice my scales as I should have). I think of her whenever I hear a Chopin prelude. Mrs. Carpenter told me that whenever she walked by her piano, the keys made it look like the piano was smiling at her and she had to play it. To this day, I think the same thing when I walk by my piano. I always felt like I had truly made it when I would play a song and Mrs. Carpenter would sit in her big chair behind me and enjoy it, instead of next to me with her pencil on the page.
Until we meet again Mrs. Carpenter. And I hope they have a decent piano up there. I'd love to play for you again.

Mrs Carpenter was one of the most lovable and kindhearted Music teacher that I ever been taught by in all my years. When I meet Mary back in the year 2001, I didint know at first what to expect because I was really nervous that I wouldn't be able to play piano adeqautley enough due to my severe autism. But over the course of my lessons, I found that she had the most patience of any teacher that I ever had. Despite that I was not able to read music at first or even play tunes the right way, she always gave not only me, but my older brother Matt Kise as well as all the other apprentices that were taught by her the insperation to find the special musical gift that was inside each and every one of us. Whether its a one on one lesson during school week, or having a concert at her house before Christmas and end of school week Mary had enjoyed every moment every time we are both perfroming on the key board or just sharing jokes with eachother. Mary has given me and all of us musical stewards a gift to express out our love for the world of music by both playing and performing for other family and friends or even putting our skills to the test against competetive music competetions both in and out of state. But all of us including myself, will always remember how much love, joy, compassion and conjility she had for everyone every time when we were around her. She left this fruitful earth to god with a message that you have a gift that you can enjoy for the rest of your life. Personally if I had never met Mary, I have couldint have a great academic career at Westhill as well as getting into college. And also, she was one of the most loving and greatest music influence in my musical career as both a play for fun pianoist and choir singer ever since I was in middle school. No matter were I would go for the rest of my days, Mary will always have a place in my heart. To Mary's son and daughter, your mother was one wonderful teacher and person and I want to take this time to thank you for letting me and all of us piano students have the privillage to be taught by the true master of piano herself. Her commitment, patience and love for all of us gave us a gift to not only enjoy for a past time but a gift for a lifetime. I both love her and miss her very much and I pray to heavenly father that she and her husbands sprit may be taken care up in heaven while all of us back on earth will always feel her love and spirit in our heart forever.

I was very saddened to hear of your mom's passing today. She was a bright spot in our lives for many years and we loved her dearly. Both my boys Thomas and William enjoyed her nurturing instruction on the piano and life, and I enjoyed many long conversations with her between lessons. I know she is happy to be reunited with your dad. We are so thankful for the gift of her presence in our lives which we'll remember each time one of the boys plays. Thank-you so much for sharing her with us.

My husband and I are comforted by the words of those who knew our mom. We are proud to have shared her with so many children who became her extended family. Music was the gift she loved most and shared so easily with anyone with a desire to learn. We will miss her dearly and know we will hear her again one day play for us on the grandest piano of all.

My Mother had a wonderful life filled with her love for family and her love for music. Over the years she gave the gift of music through the piano to hundreds of children who will carry this gift with them forever. We were fortunate to take my mother with us on several trips after her husband and my father passed away. She had a sense of adventure and was always "Game for anything" including a ride on a simulated Space Shuttle ride at the NASA Space Center. If she had the choice she would have loved to live forever giving the gift of music and living life to it's fullest. We love her and miss her and know she will continue to give the gift of music in Heaven.

My daughter, Gina, and I are saddened by this news. Gina was a new student of Mrs. Carpenter's, having only been with her for a little over a year. She was a kind, patient piano teacher and she will be missed and always remembered.

Nancy and John, Wonderful memories of Breakspear Rd. A wonderful place to grow up. Your mother was a good friend and neighbor to my mom, Knitting buddies. Your mother was present at my mothers funeral in July. She also made a point of stopping by to say hello to me this fall while I was painfully empting out my parents home. I can still hear her playing the paino on a warm summer evening. Elizabeth Bova Valenti

To Mrs. Carpenter's family: None of you know me, but I was one of the hundreds of students that learned to love music under Mrs. Carpenter's instruction at Walberta Park and Cherry Road Elementary Schools. She was so dedicated and creative, writing songs that we could perform in school musicals. I will never forget it. Blessings to all of you.

Nancy and John,
You have my deepest sympathy on the loss of your mother. Mary Lou worked with my mother at Walberta Park school and later taught piano to my children. They regard her as the "gold standard" for piano teachers. She was a lovely lady and a wonderful teacher.
