Phyllis Pearl, 87, passed away Thursday at Menorah Park. Born in Manhattan, Phyllis moved to Syracuse in 2008 to be closer to her family, to whom she was especially devoted. She worked as a human resources manager for an accounting firm but also was a dedicated volunteer, having been honored for over 25 years of volunteer service to the Museum of Natural History and recognized for her years of volunteer service as a reading tutor in the New York City schools. Phyllis loved the performing arts and supported the Opera, the New York City Philharmonic and the theater. She loved to travel, play bridge and create beautiful needlework and handicrafts, which are her legacy to her family and friends who received gifts of her outstanding, skilled work.
Phyllis was predeceased by her nephew, Stuart Pearl.
She is survived by her brother, Dr. Harvey (Dorothy) Pearl of DeWitt; her nieces, Andrea (Joel Frank) Pearl and their children Silas and Avery; and Dr. Lesley (Jason Steiker) Pearl and their daughters Elly and Selia.
Graveside services were Sunday in the United Hebrew Cemetery of Staten Island.
Contributions in Phyllis's memory may be made to Congregation Beth Sholom-Chevra Shas or Menorah Park.

Dear Harvey and Dorothy, Lesley told me of Phyllis' passing. I am so sorry to hear. She was such a wonderful woman and a great friend to my mom ( and all here). May her memory be for a blessing.
