Samuel Tremont Obituary

Samuel Tremont Jr. March 3, 2011 Samuel Tremont Jr., 89, of Syracuse, NY, died March 3, 2011. Sam was born on the West End and raised his family on the south side of Syracuse. He was a veteran of WWII. Sam honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1942-1946 in the Pacific Theatre. He was employed by General Electric for 25 years and retired from Crucible Steel. Sam was an Elmwood South Central Little League coach and an avid baseball fan of the NY Yankees and Notre Dame football. Sam enjoyed gardening, bowling and reading. Sam was a former parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua for 27 years and St. James Church. He was predeceased by his sister, Caroline Brown, and his brothers, Carmen and George Tremont. Surviving are his loving wife of 64 years, Rose Pronesti Tremont; his sons, Mark F. (Jean) of Clifton Park, NY, Samuel J. (Susan) of St. Louis, MO, Michael A. (Lucia) of Syracuse, Paul G. of Liverpool and John L. (Julie) of Sussex, NJ; his grandchildren, Brian, Lia, Monica, Kate, Sam, Joe Gabriela, Abby, Luke and Sophia; a great-granddaughter, Cecilia; sisters-in-law, Jane Tremont and Grace Piazza; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation and thanks to the staff at Loretto's Cunningham Building, 6th floor. Services: 9:15 a.m. Monday at Butler-Badman Funeral Home, Inc., 4504 W. Seneca Tnpk., and 10 a.m. in St. James Church. Interment: Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery. My family's thoughts and prayers are with all the Tremont family. I remember Samuel coming to my Uncle Carmen's house when I was a child. I loved to listen to the stories they would tell. They helped shape me into the man I am today.
