Linda Brennan Obituary

Linda Mae (Farling) Brennan October 15, 2011 Linda Mae (Farling) Brennan, 62, passed away October 15, 2011, at Crouse Hospital, after being recently admitted following a lengthy illness. She was born December 5, 1948, in Brooklyn, New York, and moved with her family to Clay, New York. Linda graduated from Phoenix Central Schools, later earning a Bachelor of Science from Syracuse University and a master's in elementary education from SUNY Cortland. She taught elementary grades in Bradenton, Florida, and in the Syracuse City Schools before retiring to raise a family. Linda had long been active in Central New York gardening circles, with memberships in Syracuse Rose Society and Garden Gate Club, as well as coordinating volunteer gardening activities for many years. Additionally, she was a longtime member of Liverpool's Wetzel Road Church of Christ. In recent years, Linda returned to her career, serving as a substitute teacher in the Syracuse City School District and as a pre-school teacher for the town of Dewitt's People in Action program. Surviving are her husband of 42 years, Steve Brennan; her father, Clifton Farling; sister, Joyce Farling of Annandale, Virginia; daughters Emma Brennan and Leah (Brennan) Jubelt of Sackets Harbor, New York; and son, Ian Brennan. She was preceded in death by her sister, Pauline Farling, and mother, Catherine (Wolpert) Farling. Linda was devoted to her family and friends and enjoyed sharing her love for flowers. Instead of calling hours, friends and family are invited to a memorial service at 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 18, at Wetzel Road Church of Christ, 4268 Wetzel Road (opposite the high school), Liverpool, NY 13090. Refreshments will be served, with nursery services available. In lieu of flower arrangements, memorial contributions may be made to the Syracuse Rose Society for their volunteer efforts on behalf of Syracuse's famous Thornden Park rose gardens at syracuserosesociety.org Arrangements are being handled by Fairchild & Meech DeWitt Chapel.

Dear Steve, Emma, Leah, and Ian,
I did not know about Linda's passing until reading the Jamesville Community Church Bulletin tonight. I am shocked and sad. I have so many great memories of working with Linda in Girl Scouts. I always enjoyed her "free spirit." The world will be a little less brighter without her presence. I am so sorry for your loss and hope you find comfort in each other and all the wonderful memories you have of Linda.
