David Alderman Obituary

David Roy Alderman

Lafayette, LA - Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ welcomed David Roy Alderman, 64, of Youngsville, LA into the Kingdom of Heaven on Tuesday, January 17th, 2012 and the angels rejoiced with all his loved ones who had gone before him. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Alderman. He is survived by his beloved wife Elaine Hurst Alderman, his mother, Nadine Alderman of Temple, TX, his sister and her husband Linda and Richard Gatto of Belton, TX, his brothers and their wives, Pete and Tina Alderman of Salado, TX, Tommy and Emily Alderman of Waxahachie, TX, his lovely daughters and their husbands, Angela and Chris Lueck of Duncanville, TX, Melissa and Brett Magnuson of Midlothian, TX, Laura and Cye Courtois, Tonia Estrada, and two fine sons, Micah Pifer and Ashton Hurst of Lafayette, LA. David was also blessed with seven amazing grandchildren, Tyler and Danielle Lueck; Andrew, Hamilton, Larkin, and Joy- Lane Magnuson; Jaiden Hurst, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

David grew up in Beaumont, Texas playing baseball and roller hockey. He received a degree from Southwestern Assembly of God University in Waxahachie, Texas. Though he loved all of God's Word, one of David's favorite scriptures was Proverbs 8:12, "I, Wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions" and could always be found in the middle of the next great business venture as many of his friends could attest. David LOVED, LOVED, LOVED sports, especially UL Baseball and STM basketball. He was one of the founding members of the UL Baseball Diamond Club and a personal fan and cheerleader for both Coach Tony Robichaux and Danny Broussard. If there was a game in town and he was able, he would call his father-in-law Larry and out the door they went. His familiar cry, "Hey Blue, shake your head - your eyes are stuck!" resonated even over the radio keeping those around him laughing and the officials on their toes.

He was a quiet philanthropist in a very boisterous way. David was sure to be found every day at the 6 AM Bible Study sharing life and Jesus with the people of his church. David's favorite thing to do was giving of himself to people - loving, praying, and sharing Jesus with them. The only thing he loved more was spending time with his family and his beautiful bride Elaine. Their new business ventures enabled them to spend almost every moment of every day together since her retirement early last year and Elaine treasures every second that was shared with him. Twenty years of marriage to Elaine had only strengthened his devotion to her and he doted and bragged on Elaine to everyone, even at the podium when he would open the service for the Pastor. He loved chasing his daughters and was a regular at T-Coon's in the mornings where he would sit with his best friend, Phil Achee and visit Laura. Many times lunch was at Poseidon's with Tonia. He loved to sit and talk with Micah, intentionally grooming his eldest son to pick up the reins as head of the household when the time came - family and life were his favorite subjects. Road trips to Dallas to spend a weekend with Angela, Melissa, their husbands and the grandchildren where he was welcomed with open arms were exhaustingly fun and rewarding. Regular phone conversations with his mother Bonnie where the only subject was how good God is and what amazing thing He had done lately for each of them were a joy to him as were his calls to Linda, Pete and Tommy. David always believed in God's promises to him for Ashton and he waited faithfully and patiently as the Lord continues to work in Ashton's life.

David was a true light in this world. He only saw the good - in others and everything around him. He never met a stranger and the lives of every person he came in contact with were never ever the same. His personal touch, godly wisdom, and wise counsel were treasured by people from all walks of life.

A memorial celebration of David's life will be held at Emmanuel Church, on Saturday, January 28th, 2012, at 1:30 PM, located at the corner of Johnston Street and Marie Antoinette. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in David's name to the UL Baseball Diamond Club, 201 Reinhardt Drive, Lafayette, LA 70502 or your favorite charity of choice.
