Donald Elwin Boyd
Sept. 4, 1926 - Feb. 15, 2011

Donald Elwin Boyd, age 84, of St. Louis, MI passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 15th, 2011 at his residence.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Louis Church of Christ on Saturday, February 19th at 11 A.M. Mr. Keith Wise will officiate. Burial will take place at Union Home Cemetery, Clinton County, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes.
Donald was born in St. Louis, Michigan on September 4, 1926, the son of William Glen and Gladys (Longanbach) Boyd. He graduated from St. Louis High School with the class of 1944 and from Acme Business College in Lansing, MI. Don married Margaret "Peg" (Reeve) Boyd on March 4, 1950 at St. Johns First United Methodist Church. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Don was a lifelong resident of St. Louis. He owned and operated Capital Business Service and later worked at Delfield. He was a member of the St. Louis VFW Post, American Legion Post 256, Masonic Lodge, and the CSA Lodge. Don was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast. He enjoyed flower gardening, playing Euchre and square dancing. He was a member of St. Louis Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife Margaret "Peg" Boyd of St. Louis, MI; son Kurt Boyd of Ann Arbor, MI; son Stephen and Lichiu Boyd of East Lansing, MI; son James and Kathryn Boyd of Whitewater, WI; daughter Mary Jane and Robert Barker of North Muskegon, MI; 10 grandchildren: Andrew and Renee Boyd; Mara Boyd; Evan Boyd; Guy Boyd; Franklin Boyd; Katey Boyd; Garth Boyd; Emma Boyd; Drew and Rachel Barker; and Glen Barker. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Bill Boyd, and two sisters Connie Albert and Della Mae Webster.
Memorials may be made to St. Louis Church of Christ or American Legion Post 256. Online condolences can be sent to www.smithfamilyfuneralhomes.com. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Louis Chapel St. Louis, Michigan.
