Patrick Daly Obituary

DALY, PATRICK KENNETH "Judge Daly"; of Waterford; passed away at 6:45 p.m. on April 5, 2011; at the age of 81. Preceded in death by his childhood love and wife, Gertrude of 50 years; dear father of Michael K. (Cheryl) Daly, Timothy J. (Terissa) Daly, Patrick T. (Dana) Daly, Nena (Mike) Collier and Daniel J. (Deanna) Daly; also cherished by 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Mr. Daly was born May 6, 1929 in Mankato, MN to the late Kenneth and Rose (Lucas) Daly and raised in Pontiac by his Aunt and Uncle, Rose and Leo McDonald. He moved to Waterford in 1955 and it was there that he earned the nickname of "Judge Daly". Pat was elected to the office of Justice of the Peace in 1957, one of the youngest Justice to have served in the State of Michigan. Judge Daly will be remembered as an Oakland County Commissioner, and he and his wife managed the Waterford Township Secretary of State office from the 1960's until the 1980's. He and his wife, Gertrude were long time members of the Oakland County Democratic Club and active in politics for many years on a National, State and local level. Pat was a founding member of Saint Perpetua Catholic Church. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus, and was a long time member of the Waterford Eagles Lodge, the Pontiac Waterford Elks Lodge and the Moose Lodge. He will be remembered and missed by his family and many friends. In retirement, Mr. Daly spent a great deal of time caring for his wife in her fight with Pulmonary Fibrosis, and then doing the same for his sister-in-law, Carlene Parsons who is suffering with the same disease. Mr. Daly lived for many years at Lockwood Assisted Living Center, where he will be missed and remembered by many for his sugar free desserts, his stubborn disposition and his huge heart. He passed away quietly at the home of his beloved daughter, Nena and son in law Mike Collier. He is now at rest with his dearly loved and missed wife. May God's Perpetual Light shine upon him. A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, April 11, 2011, 10:30 a.m. at St. Perpetua Catholic Church, 134 Airport Road, Waterford. Celebrant Father Jack H. Baker. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday after 10 a.m. Rite of Committal Great Lakes National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Church. Arrangements by the RIVERSIDE CHAPEL, Simpson-Modetz Funeral Home, Waterford. Online guestbook
