Was Vernon Luella Barnhart's son? I just purchased a frame at an antique auction and her picture taken in Marshalltown IA was in the frame. Would anyone in the famiy like it? If so, you can write to me and I'll get the letter as I'm the local pm.

"Tally Ho" to a master wordsmith, story-teller and the chief cook and bottle-washer of his beloved Windcharm. I will deeply miss the old scribe.

Ken was a remarkable man. He survived tank warfare in the Second World War and single handed sailing on the ocean afterwards. We traded stories of the newspaper business on the Internet during the past three years, a business that in our day was a lot of fun as well as a lot of tension. A remarkable man and a wonderful friend.

I am already missing Ken's unique e-mail essays, each written with the same flair as his Windcharm chapters. As a wordsmith he had few equals. Mike Carmichael, another Tely veteran, and I enjoyed several years of sharing Tely memories with Ken. We have heard his "Tally Ho" for the last time and shall indeed miss the sage of Vasey Road. I am saddened to hear of Ken's passing, a friend and colleague with the Ministry of Natural Resources. Ken hired me and mentored many of us in his role in MNR. I remember him as a gentle man, boisterous at times but always a supportive and knowledgeable manager. Fairwell friend! Dennis Wilson (Peterborough, Ont.)

Ken and I pay tribute to Ken, a fine fellow worker and mentor at the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, and as a fellow member of the Outdoor Writers of Canada. He will be missed for his stories, his encouragement, and his many contributions to the outdoor world.

Tally ho, Ken. Thank you for your friendship, your fascinating stories, your book and your real estate savvy when needed in 1976. Every Sun Media employee, past and present, owes you thanks for being one of the 62 Toronto Sun pioneers who got it all started on Nov. 1, 1971. Condolences to the family.
