Patricia MacEnroe Obituary

Patricia B. MacEnroe
New Hartford
Patricia Brennan MacEnroe died Friday, March 30, 2012. She was born on March 17, 1925, in Flushing, Queens, the daughter of Frank A. and Miriam Heidenis Brennan. Pat was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in New Hartford, NY, where she was a Eucharistic minister, a lector, a parish visitor, a charter member of the funeral choir, and served on the Bereavement Ministry. She was also a member of the New Hartford Adult Dining and Activity Center where she was President of the Senior Council. Pat loved New York City and was delighted that she had grown up there. She made her social debut at the Knights of Columbus Charity Ball held at the Waldorf-Astoria. Pat met her husband, John MacEnroe, while they were students. She was at Fordham University; he had returned to Manhattan College after having served three years in the Army Air Force, Pacific Theatre. The intense rivalry of the two schools in the sports arena in no way dampened their friendship. They were married in St. Kevin's Parish in Flushing on July 2, 1954. John and Pat were selected by the town of New Hartford in 1990 for its Community Service Award and were chosen Senior Citizens of the Year by the Oneida County Office for the Aging in 2003. John died on August 7, 2010. Surviving Pat are her five adult children and their spouses. They are John and Susan and their children, Patrick, Meghan and Adam, Tricia and Cliff, Paul and Michelle and their son, and Alex, Maureen and Sam and their daughter, Jenny, and Mary. She is also survived by her sister, Miriam; and brothers, Ed and his children, Miriam, Mary, E.J., Peter, Kevin, Virginia and Catherine, and John and Charman and their children, Ian and Sarah. She is survived, too, by a niece and nephew, Patricia and Frank Brennan; and her Goddaughters, Miriam Potthoff and Shelley Bialka. Pat was predeceased by a brother, Frank, in 2009. On Thursday, April 12, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church, 66 Oxford Rd., New Hartford, NY. Interment will be in Saratoga National Cemetery next to her husband, John. Calling hours will be from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at Nunn & McGrath Funeral Directors, 470 French Road, Utica. In your charity, please consider St. John the Evangelist Church or Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Messages of sympathy at www.nunnandmcgrath.com

Memories of your parents are many for our families shared many Camp Nazareth camp fires together. I remember your mother as a wise, warm woman with a wonderful sense of humor, and a twinkle in her eye. May her memory be in your hearts always. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for the spouse of our fellow Jasper, our passed fellow Jasper, and the family at this time. Spouses are recognized on the theory "they make a Jasper's life". The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any man's death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss. Dona Nobis Pacem.
