On Wednesday, October 3, 2012, of Chevy Chase, MD. Beloved wife of the late Anthony J. Veith; mother of Tony (Tina), the late Mike (Merc), Pat, the late Ann Marie, Jimmy, Johnny (Debby), Theresa (Don) Montgomery, Billy (Lisa), Mary Ann Adkins, Catherine (Joe) Whalen, Margaret (Mike) Maher, Danny, Barbara (Brendan) Cassidy, Bridget (Jamie) Wagner, Eileen (Steve) Hoefer, Susie (John) Lively and JoAnn (Ben) Hughes; sister of James (Chris) Scanlon; grandmother of 59 including the late Peyton Marie Lively and Quinn Francis Maher and great-grandmother of 14. Relatives and friends may call at Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament, Western Ave. at Quesada St. NW, Washington, DC, Monday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, October 9, at 11 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. My thoughts and prayers are with the Veith family. Mrs. Veith was such a strong and kind woman. I have so many memories of seeing her passing by our house on the way to and from Blessed Sacrament. We always used to say, "Mrs. Veith is a saint!".

I never had the pleasure of meeting Ann Veith but after attending her funeral today to support my friend and co-worker Tony - I am amazed at what an incredible woman she was. I am inspired to be a better Mom, friend and Christian because of this day.

Your mother was a bit of a legend in our home. My mother, Peggy Rafferty, always spoke of how generous Ann and Tony Veith were referring to stories of how she personally brought over a wonderful pudding when my grandfather had surgery and brought a ham when my sister was severely injured in a car wreck. My mother tearfully spoke of Ann's passing to me yesterday, fondly remembering the many playdates my sister Alice had with Theresa. Mrs. Veith was a wonderful role model for all of us who knew her personally.
